the race pipe worries me, that it'll make the smell ALOT worse, and maybe some rasp.. im think ATLP hi-flo third cat.. the flow is 300, compared to stock at 350... BUT .. its 2.5" diameter
i got on the first GB before it ended, and managed to get some of the first few ones shipped.. my wait time was like 2 weeks or so....

the smell really isnt THAT terrible, but its a smell you dont expect for a luxury acura/honda sedan ![rofl](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/rofl.gif)

Yea, it definitely smells... but its really, not that terrible.... ever smell a 1980's muscle car start on a cold morning.... it just smells like strong exhaust fumes when you first start it...
and when you go WOT, you'll smell it when you come to a stop... that smell is a little different, like the egg smell you usually get from going WOT, but a little stronger and pretty noticeable.... it basically smells like car, that doesnt have cat convertors on it
I think the ATLP 3rd Cat Hi-Flo is the best option.. i just really dont wanna spend $300 for like....2 more whp.... i think i'll buy it, and re-dyno.. if there are proven results, then ill keep it
the main reason i want a new product in the 3rd cat area is the flow restriction from the 2.25" outlet... it DEFINITELY has to be holding back some ponies... plus, look at a stock cat without the heatshield on.. they are all bent funny and dont look like they flow that well at all

wasn't fun ![rofl](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/rofl.gif)
of all the installs and parts that ive done to this car, the Rear Pre-Cat and the Rear Mount were definitely the most challenging... everything else was a piece of cake...
i have no FSTB on (edfc) ..so we moved the cruise control module, and the access to cat was there.. just manuevering in and out of that location was tough.... the rear engine mount was actually a little more troubling then the precat

i see. did you use a air rachet? i have one but i think it's broken! for some reason it spins when it ain't on a bolt but when i put it on one it moves the whole rachet but doesn't seem to have enough power to move the bolt and just freezes.

yeah been really searching to this item and seems that most gains are from being able to play with cam timing. I would assume that they adjusted fuel and timing, that would be the only way to squeeze numbers out. Even did some measuring to see if you could drop the RDX motor in and build upon that.

Yea, i was extremely pissed and was close to not paying them anything. They aren't able to adjust Vtec with the greddy emanage. I do wanna get another dyno before i put on the P&P parts, just picked them up, the guy seems to say i wont see any major gains from it, very minimal if that.

the s/c guys are a different story.. the comptech ACM lowers vtec engagement point, so it hits sooner, but then VTEC will drop off sooner (around 5 or 6k rpm) then, the car will be in full boost, and it takes it from there
If we adjust our VTEC, the car will take off quicker, but will definitely loose the MMPHHH in the top end, that lets honda's rev high, and hold strong in the red zone

I'm hoping this works on the RL, too. It should, given the TL-S has a similar J35 to the RL. I could use a little more power to go with SH-AWD. These are great results!

Blacura... Here comes the wet blanket.
You gotta get pre/post install dyno's on the same day before you can honestly claim 20HP...
It was nice and cool and NO humidity last weekend. No idea what it was like in April. Summer mix fuel winter mix fuel...?
All that impacts #'s.
I was getting 12-17 HP differences in Dyno runs on my 200HP Harley V-Rod (using the same dynojet dynograph)... This was over about 4 months, and about 12 different runs.
Temperature and humidiy have more impact in making power than those pipes. A 30 degree plus drop in temperature can result in up to 10% power gains. My SCTL is retarded to drive right now. Back in July it was awesome, but it seems to be getting better everyday cause it's making much more power in the colder weather.

Yea i know weather is a crucial factor..
Both Dyno's had similar run temps, however, Humidity was 22% yesterday, vs. 44% on the April Dyno. I know that plays a huge part in the role. Also, the fuel was the same, as I almost use go to the same gas station. Shouldnt have been any winter mix left around mid to end of April.. (hopefully not) But i think i would have known, because ironically enough, the winter mix ALWAYS gave me CEL's , and i havent had one since February/March
Of course, same day dyno is the best option for critical and accurate results, but if you ask me. its almost IMPOSSIBLE to ever get "accurate" results on a Dyno. Heat soak also plays a big role
On my last dyno, i had my OEM hood.. and it was opened during the dyno. Yesterday, my hood was closed, because the CF hood would have fallen from engine movement when i red-lined... so if my hood was open, it was possible to get a few more hp
Also, i think Oil life plays a HUGE role in dynos... i did just change my oil about a week ago, with some RP... last dyno, i dont know how fresh or old the oil was, or if i even had synth. in
I would still say honestly, these things are good for 15-20whp on any application because of the lesser restriction on air coming out of the engine block...
I think when products like this are designed, the manuf. should always be doing immediate pre/post dyno's for more accurate results. But every application is different, like i said
I may have gained about 20whp with my setup, but maybe somebody with an RV6 j-pipe and comptech exhaust only gain 10-15...
Pretty much, i am just happy i hit 290+ whp... i'll be in utopia when the car breaks 300....
i bet if i dyno my car with the exact same setup again in January , ill probably make like 298whp...

Honestly, i think us N/A guys shouldnt messing with V-Tec too much..
