hmm.. i wouldnt say hotter because....

the cat substrate is what usually retains the heat, as it "filters" out the air.. the substrates act as a catalyst, and heat up immediately...

yes, the pre-cats get hot too, but i wouldnt say any hotter then the actual cats.. if anything, the engine bay should be slightly cooler (although i doubt that)

That's a good point. I definitely want to see some comfimation on this before I get the deletes.

ah... its not like it smells like horse shit

its just a strong exhaust fume.. something you should expect from power gaining modifications based on the exhaust system

first, thanks to al who installed the pre-cats at a stunning time and i immediately felt the power boost, EVEN with 20s.

So the most abundant element in the air is nitrogen and when the engine combusts, some of the nitrogen and oxygen react to form nitric oxides (NOx) which is one of the bad smelling components probably.

One obvious one would be hydrocarbons, a long chain of carbons with hydrogens stemming from it; this is present in gas and some are not used up.

If the car runs the reactions to completion, CO (carbon monoxide) shouldn't form but no car is ideal and this gets produced too..

in the big picture, no you do not smell eggs or fart after eating chinese food or white castle; rather, you smell a putrid engine exhaust smell that actually nauseates me at times lol. it's a mix of elements and compounds, compounds the catalytic converter and pre-cats would otherwise extract.

but we don't care! we love illegal shit

The smell only reconfirms to me that i have more power under the hood. I had this same smell with my Sti but without the huge back fire from running really rich. But you get use to it and hardly notice it after awhile unless someone who rides with you brings it up to your attention than you smell it.

I don't know if you should put those on. My front and rear ones are starting to deteriate; getting tiny burt pieces. It seem to effect anything yet though. Still got wood...err.... power!

the power is there, and its noticeable.....

i had the PRO-cats on my Blackura, and i really dont think they gained that much HP too... i barely made 227whp with that car, CT exhaust, OE IMgaskets, AEM CAI, UR pulley and the e-shit cats

That's true! I only got 8hp/2tq (dyno proven) with mine. But at the time, better than nothing.

I think it's safe to say that a Type-S 6MT with these same mods could be in the neighborhood of 305 whp. I was skeptical awhile back about some people claiming 300+, N/A without a tune, but now I feel it's attainable.

The saw mill is an incredibly unsafe parkway! It also floods so easily so anyone running a CAI better not be caught dead on that! I drive up it everyday and swear people don't know how to hold there own lane!
