just got precat deletes installed today and wow! car pulls crazy. its totally different animal.

but the smell... used to love that smell during childhood but now it just gives me a headache. currently i have the atlp racepipe, so will swap back on the oem 3rd cat and order the highflow version pretty soon.

btw.. does precat delete makes header hissing sound? or is this an exhaust leak?

nevermind on the hissing sound. found a answer to it. jpipe and precats not aligning and use of old gaskets.

I dont get a "hissing" sound, but like many others.. i have the "cold rattle"

basically, on cold starts you hear a rattle... and the first time you really give it some throttle it rattles... after that, never again, until it gets cold.....

i believe its the heat sheild on the drive shaft.... i dont mind it too much.. not worth removing it IMO..

but minkl81, isnt that difference unbelievale? the amount of power you gain for a $250 part..... its outrageous....

expect to pay around $200.. maybe less... its a good amount of work...the front cat can be replaced your self , if you've got the right tools.. i mean, hell, so can the rear cat...

its one of those jobs, that sometimes spending the money is worth saving the time... i coulda done it myself, but it probably would have taken me like 8-10 hours in my driveway with a jack and socket wrench

i think i paid like $150 for the install from my mechanic... fair price, took him like 3 - 4 hours to do

i paid only $75 and took around 3 hours to finish. cant complain.

i only hear the hiss or rumble sound when the tech hits over 5k rpm. also i saw the heatshield on the driveshaft when the car was on the lift and thought it could rattle with very little gap of clearance. but thankfully no rattles yet.

other than that, this is great power mod for its value

checked with two different exhaust mechanics for a exhaust leak. no leak found. they say one of the cause might be the increased inflow/outflow restricted by stock exhaust system.

that air whooshing sound is no leak but a detonation sound in the header (precat deletes) that happens before the cats. when header gets hot, it detonates unburnt gas in the exhaust fumes once more before it gets filtered out by cats, thus creating that air leaking sound.

I can assure you there is no burning off of unburned gas going on assuming the car is running right. Now when the engine is cold it temporarily richens the mix to get the cats to light off faster so that may explain the cold noise but it should only be for about 10 seconds.

You got some Nice Numbers. If you ever have a day off, Can we have a friendly run with the 335i. I wanna see how a modded TL stack up against a stock 335.

Honestly it doesn't even smell that bad. I don't smell anything different in the cabin, even at red lights and stop signs. Maybe its because I only have 30 miles on the deletes...?

Yeah, that must be the JuiceBox or Vishnu Procede, one of those chips. But the drawback is you can really mess up the engine, the 6th cylinder starts to missfire and the you blow the piston and eventually change the engine which costs $25000 installed at Stealership. Thats is 1 BIG reason im Leaning towards buying the EVOX and not the 335i.

No doubt....chipped 335's can run high 11's/low 12's with intake/exhaust mods. e92 m3's run what...12.7-12.8?

they are 2.5" SS straight pipes that replace the 2 main catalytic convertors that are attached to the engine block, leading into the jpipe

HUGE performance gains.... with some serious emissions defiecency
