Where is this smell?

A) In the car with the windows up, while driving
B) In the car but only if the windows are down - and you're at a stoplight
C) Never in the car you fucking idiot - I'm talking about standing behind the car while it's running, or in the garage after you've started it.
this piece of info would be really helpful, wouldnt it?

my TL is not a daily driver. So, when I do start her up in the garage, SHE REEKS!!! but again, not a bad smell.
Once I get inside and close the car door, I cannot smell it.
with that being said, A/C on windows up NO SMELL inside cabin.

its only if I have the windows down and am at a stop light. a slight "machine" smell will waft into the cabin. But it seems as tho its not coming from my car at all.
but I know that it is.

And do you get it with the V3 j-pipe only? or smell only comes once you add PCDs? Last question - do HFPCs get rid of this smell you're talking about?

there are two primary cats, which take care of emissions.
when doing pre-cat deletes, you're replacing these cats with straight pipe.
As long as you retain these cats, you will not get a smell or rasp.
the jpipe gets rid of the 3rd cat which is only in place to up the ULEV rating.
Jpipe will increase power and nothing else.(provided everything else is stock)

if i had to do it over again, I'd grab the High FLOW cats.
they are still cats and still takes care of emissions.
stock cats are a 900cell. high flow cats are 200 cell count.
HFC's will take care of the rasp and smell.

the smell is akin to a motorbike or a weed eater/weed whacker.
exhaust fumes.

Is there a power increase and exhaust volume (hopefully deep growl) with high flow cats? And are these the one's you'd buy? http://rv6-performance.com/index.php...art&Itemid=103

Thinking of buying this combo now. But I'll do only the j-pipe if HFPCs don't add deep growl and noticeable power gain.

I'm afraid I could look for days and not find what you're talking about. This place is still like a labyrinth to me.

When I search for something - I always get PAGES and PAGES of results to look through, and I usually give up after 15 minutes. I must not be searching right.

HFC is sounding better and better, because I still have emissions testing in NJ and maybe I will pass with the HFC. Definitely will not pass with zero cats in the whole system.

Tlhord, as you spend more and more time on here, you'll learn the important thread titles.

then go to google, and type in "acurazine + thread title" and its usually the first result.

Here is the thread I was talking about.

What do you think it would sound like with V3 j-pipe and HFPCs and the rest of the exhaust stock? Worth it - or waste of money if the rest of the exhaust is stock......

It seems like you are asking if it would be "worth it" based on the sound. Are you just interested in the sound, or performance?

In any case, I don't know how it would sound. My first mod was catback exhaust. I kind of like the car loud.

Sorry, my bad. I just didn't type it all that time. What I asked a few posts up was:

It's good to see a current thread on this topic

I've got a quick question. Is it best to pair the RV6 j-pipe with RV6's true dual exhaust, or would an exhaust from someone else bring out the j-pipe's potential just as well?

dont get caught up in bottle necking.
a cat back is a cat back is a cat back.

any exhaust will do better than the stock system.

Word. That's what I meant about people overanalyzing here and comparing one dyno graph showing 11 WHP gains versus another product showing 12 WHP gains like zOMG! On the other hand, Richie (RV6) has been very helpful to me with previous purchases, and therefore I am very much inclined to give him my business again.

tlhord: IMO if you have the money do both the HFPC and the j-pipe. If not right now, I'd say pick one. The HFPC/PCD is a more difficult install, but might give you more gains than the jpipe, I'm not really sure. The jpipe install is easy. Doing both at the same time = win.

And yes, that link for the HFPC + jpipe combo is the real deal. This is just the HFPC:
