Vented Rear Rotors

OK, so I searched and searched.. and still searching but thought I would ask

First, I know Racingbreak makes an OEM upgrade to allow a two-piece rear rotor to work on our cars.. it costs about $1k and includes the rotors, modified brackets and pads

http://www.racingbrake.com/TL_Rear_0...2152-381-0.htm

that is just more than I want to pay.. so I was doing my research through acurazine to find what other rear rotors we can use without getting a bbk and very little came back

first, there are no Honda/Acura rotors offered which are NOT solid pieces

I started looking at other cars and their rotors based on bolt pattern found here

http://adaptitusa.com/referencebook.htm

Most of the performance vehicles like 350z, G35(7), STi all have the same bolt pattern but their center bore is slightly bigger (STi is smaller).. the center bore I can probably get around by either a spacer or just getting wheels that would fit those cars..

the issue though is will those rear rotors fit our calipers with current bracket setup.. and also the question of our internal parking brake in the rear rotor... I am digging for the "mm" to see if things are close.. the inside parking brake drum should be standard 170mm .. so I am guessing we can do from 168mm to 170mm.. just a guess from the book

Annoyed Honda/Acura just doesn’t do rear vented rotors.. drives me nuts

My question to anyone/everyone is there someone running vented rear rotors on our TLs using OEM calipers????

My question is why? I mean for me, I'd definitely benefit. But I'm pretty non standard. What benefit are you looking for to justify the research and cost? Just curious.

mainly for heat dissapation without getting a bbk, I want to keep increasing my mods but would like to add to my stopping power.. I know I would get the most stopping power by getting better tires.. which I will... but want to look at the next step after which would be brake components.. a rear bbk would be more than what I want to pay and possibly overkill

now I know I dont need it even if I got a turbo.. but it is nice to have.. always looking for options

Here would be my suggestion - slotted rear rotors, pads you can't buy at an auto parts store, fluid and lines, and turn the vsa off more often as it way over uses and heats the rear brakes. If you did that and had proof that the brakes were still overheating then I'd say its worth looking into. But take it from me, the rear brakes aren't as bad as you think. They just need the right combo and they'll be all you need and more. Don't see me running out for a rear brake upgrade ......

Really just trying to save you time and money.

I agree. Install RacingBrake ET500 (not ET300) brake pads in the front and rear. Flush your brake fluid and replace with Motul. This will make your brakes feel like you installed a "big brake" kit. It did for me and on the wife's RL. My search for the ultimate brake pad is over. I found it.

thanks for the info.. I have SS lines already.. was going to replace all 4 rotors this spring.. I was looking at the ET500 pads already from all the research on here.. I guess since I was going to change the rotors was just hoping to get the best I could at all four corners.. well outside of bbk.. but it sounds like no real need for vented in the rear... and also really cant find any

Everything I have read on this site you guys have suggested the same... thanks for the confirmation... it still sucks I am always looking for a mod that other folks might not have done
