polyurethane hangers STOP the aftermarket exhaust shake... if you've ever seen a car from the rear the mufflers shake, this stops that

also at cold starts there is some muffler shake from the crappy oem hangers

How in the hell do you guys break your exhaust hangers? Hell...I race my car and have never had an issue...lol. BTW...there is a reason they are made to move a bit....would you rather they transfer the movement through the welds and joints? Think about it....the exhaust moves with the motor basically.....if the motor moves and the exhaust does not...where is it transferring the movement to? Just a thought. Not saying there isnt credence to this mod...just wondering out loud I guess.

I don't know how much your exhausts are moving, but a little vibration OEM/ATLP is normal. I've have over 60K on my car, with the OE hangers, and 50k were with an aftermarket exhaust, plus track time and I have no problems still.

Could explain why people are having flex pipe leaking issues? If they are running these hangers....perhaps they are transferring the movement to that point? Dunno....just thinking out loud again.

Totally agreed and exactly what I was thinking. Something has to give with engine movement and even a tiny bit of chassis flex. I would rather it be the mounts.

I've been running a dual 2.5" stainless (read "heavy")exhaust suspended by factory rubber mounts on my fast car and even with a couple 1.49 60' times they've never let me down. I believe with those 60' times it's hitting around 2Gs on takeoff. IMO, no need to ever "upgrade" the factory rubber mounts.

I might also note....if your exhaust is moving that much.....check your motor mounts....cause they shouldnt be moving THAT much.

True, but are you guys bottoming the cars to where the exhaust drags the ground? The reason I ask is the rubber mounts are the fuse in the system. Urethane can present an entire host of other problems.

Who said we bottoming the car??

We said we upgraded our exhaust hangers so dat later on all the stress from the exhaust wont affect the hangers, y upgrade them so we wont get a WOBBLE like the v6 Accords or sum 2G TLs...

And your motor and trans is probably solid mounts.I wouldn't be surprised if you running a brace plates with all that torque to.
In that GN engine movement would be crucial to how straight the car launches. What's the stall set at? and the two step? 1.49 60ft is nice!

Mine's set up pretty mild since it was my daily driver before the TL.

Driver's side motor mount is urethane, passenger side is stock rubber.

Stall is a low 3,000 thanks to all the new turbo technology. Peak torque is at only 3,200rpm. For the same power with yesterday's turbos I've had to run as high as a 3,800 stall to get it to spool.

I've got body and frame braces but haven't caged it yet. It's still cracking the roof and rippling the rear quarter panels from the launches.

Of the two sub 1.5 60' times, I launched it with the pedal on the floor. On the street I can't floor it until I'm above 70mph.

No two step, just a limiter at 6,300 with shifts at 6,100rpm. My good launches were with a trans brake but I no longer have that because it was breaking parts. I now launch off the foot brake and it's usually no better than low-mid 1.6s.

ok fyi... the op isn't swapping out all exhaust hangers... just 3.... the one before the jpipe, and 2 at each end of the mufflers.... there are still 3 rubber hangers still supporting the exhaust....

my guess is the worst i can fathom is a blown gaskets at the 2bolt flanges post ypipe... but wait he's got clamps so not even to him, to the other dudes that do this rofl
