TL A-spec fast?

Is it 5.7 sec 0-60 and 14,25sec 1/4 mile for the auto or the manual?

That 5.7 0-60 was done on an A-Spec TL with a 6sp Manual.

Not too many, they are covered in the parts and performance section.

Sounds about right if your driving a 6sp. Factoring in driver error and the extra weight of the other person, .4 slower than 5.7 isn't bad at all. You could do better though

Oh man i know this has been covered a few times but this vibration on my car is killing me...plus not getting the clutch is a bit annoying too. THe dealership put the a-spec steering wheel kind of wrong. It is slanted a bit to the right. I will let them know and bitch at them for their crappy job.

5.7 might be possible but the conditions would have to be ideal and the driver will have to be precise. i think for most of us who drive a 6MT we can get in around 6 which is pretty decent for a 4 door sedan.

Haha, hey what's up man. I am still stuggling with the 6spd. It's been 4 days now. I dont stall anymore but going from a stop, reversing on a downhill and going from a stop on uphill are treaeting me badly

It helps when learning to drive a manual to let the clutch out slowly at first (known as slipping the clutch) when going from a stop. This should reduce the amount of stalls you have until you get more comfortable with the friction point (i.e. the point of pedal travel where the clutch engages).

You also want to err on the side of too much gas rather than enough. Try holding the RPM at 2000 or so to avoid stalls. It is much better to chirp the tires than stall the car.

With a high powered FWD, the key for a normal start from a stop is giving it enough gas to get moving but without roasting the tires. You have to kind of back off the throttle as soon as the car begins to move to avoid wheel slippage or a hard launch (unless that is what you want to do). When trying to start uphill, you have to get it moving a bit quicker or roll backwards, which means you have to back off the throttle even more if you don't want to launch hard.

It just takes practice. My first car was a 1987 Legend 5MT and the first time I ever drove a manual was the test drive. I probably stalled it 10 times on a 5 mile drive. It took about a week to get comfortable with the basics, but mastery is a lifelong pursuit . . .
