This might be a stupid question, but I've never bought an exhaust system before. Is the box that this comes in small enough to fit in our trunk or back seat? If not, then I need to have it shipped to where I'm installing it. Other than that, I'll place my order early next week!

No, you are going to need to open the box and put all the parts in separate. That is ok though. You will probably want to take it out and oogle over it before you have it put on anyway.

Oh, and to bring the stock exhaust home with you you are going to need to take out the back seat.

So many to choose from now??? What about the new ATLP catback with dual OEM looking tips. WHICH one sounds louder/nicer and has the most HP gains??? I want to hear my car. My stage III MOD is NOT loud enough.

Whats with the mid muffler? Its not a Lexus.

There is really only ONE that would wake up the neighbors or give you a headache though, and that is this one.

I thought tanabe was considered to be one of the more quieter exhaust systems?? similar to the comptech rt??

I thought so too. From wat I gathered from another thread, the levels are as follows:

LOUDEST to QUIETEST (Thanks Al)

greddy
ATLP and XLR8 non-resonated
ATLP and XLR8 resonated
comptech

Not sure where the Tanabe fits into this, but I understand that it's just above the comptech by a tiny bit, or equal.

It is. Marcus might have misread that post.

Correct as quoted above. Tanabe and CT would be about the same exhaust note/sound. This exhaust is for those customers who are looking for an aftermarket exhaust that makes about 7-8 HP, is fully stainless steel, is mild yet throaty and has no drone. This is for the more consumer who possibly uses his car for business or with his family and he wants to keep the exhaust note more subtle at idle and cruising but a little more aggressive at WOT.

^ not to mention that some people DO NOT want exhaust for SOUND... they want the gains

I've heard that this catback doesn't provide extreme gains, but I also believe its just low reading dyno numbers...

the stock catback is a pos designed for people who don't want to hear vtec... not to mention they've designed this car so you don't feel vtec

this exhaust with 60mm from the catback tubing and 2 resonators will preserve not only the cabin quietness but also the low end torque most catbacks tend to lose via a shift in the powerband....

what I am trying to say here is, this is for those who like the jdm look but not the cabin drone

ps. I don't care who says this thing is quiet... a flyby at 100mph with any tanabe product is fucking sexy

i've said it before, ill say it again.. its probably VERY similar to the comptech exhaust... and my comptech exhaust ROCKED.. not to say i dont love the ATLP, but its VERY loud with all the other mod's bolted on

If comptech or tanabe made a nice polished quad for the TL-S, id buy it in a heart beat.... drone is something that if you arent ready for, you wont be able to handle it
