Here is a questionnaire to assist in your decision-making process

Do you frequently experience wheel hop?
Is your car traction limited during heavy acceleration?
Do you desire a more solidly connected feel with the car?
Do you frequently break the oem mounts?

If you answered yes to any of the above question, then think carefully about this last question -

To gain any of the advantages of the aftermarket mounts, are you willing to sacrifice your luxury-car feel and to live with intense vibration at red lights?

And he does mean intense. It really does convert the car from quiet and luxury to performance only.

You're right. I would never trade that luxury for any performance gain. Those people are nuts... especially that diet guy

I think this whole Performance subforum needs to be shutdown. Those performance wacko's are giving the TL a bad name.

If you want the car to be as it is intended, then coming to this subforum as Inacc says is a complete waste of time.

But if you want it to be something else, then you've got to make sacrifices in one area or another. Just part of playing the game.

I would stick with oem motor mounts why mess with such fine car?? I am actually new to the forum just purchased an 06 TL a week and half ago. Since I can't post pictures just yet I was wondering which motor mounts tend to go out more often? I do have a small hair line crack on the passenger side. It's the left side if you are staring at the engine in front of the car.

62a is not bad IMO. But it will be noticeable especially when you turn on the AC. However just cruising without the AC not so much. Personally I dont mind it and it still feels fine to me. But if you get irritated by vibration I would stick with OEM.

I would not do it in a 5at.....as long as it's not a 2,600lb 5at lol. There's just not much power off the start, you're not likely to run into wheel hop. You're not lifting throttle and hitting the throttle in between shifts.

I have no personal experience with the TL and urethane motor mounts but even in my GN which is over 700hp at the engine, I used the bare minimum- 1 poly mount on the driver's side since it torques up and a stock mount on the passenger side. That should tell you how much I hate stiff mounts.

In the TL I would stay away from poly mounts unless you NEED them.

I don't want my car to be something else or I would have just bought something else. I believe I can have my cake and eat it too.

^Then your opinion doesn't really matter to us and you are wasting bandwidth. You sound like the old people I see driving around here. Giving us a bad name, eh Inacc?

My wife has cut the card up long ago.

Good advice, but there is always room for improvement.

The 4G TL is packed with hydraulically filled bushings designed for a tight but comfortable driving experience. I would prefer a solid bushing, but I’m a little bit hardcore. My wife on the other hand would say; “I have no idea WTF you are talking about.” So it’s a good compromise.
