I've been following most of the exhaust threads for a while now. Most people who tried no resonator/mid-muffler complained about the rasp.

Even with the dynomax you get a little rasp.

Depends what you are looking for. I am shooting for something a little deeper in tone and less volume.

stage 3 resonator + magnaflow mid muff is the way to go if u want that smooth low deep tone

i have that along with 2 14" magnaflow ss mufflers...the sounds is GREAT! ive received many compliments already...gotta love it

Mods should make an exhaust compilation thread and sticky it....theres already A LOT of exhaust vids for 3G! haha that'll rock...anyways....since Jazz wanted me to record a clip of my new set up...i drove 40min into the Canyons just for a clip...haha jk...decided to have some fun with the TL...nothing too hard...

Heres the FULL magnaflow set up:
2.25" bent piping (cat to back)
magnaflow ypipe
magnaflow mid muffler 11"
magnaflow mufflers 14" x2
magnaflow 4" slash rolled tips x4

ignore those blue tapes...i had my type s rear lip removed to get it re-color matched....so it left the big ass holes i had to cut (i accidently cut too much...clumsy me )

yeah lol 2.5" was killing my ears...everyone kept complaining also so i was tired of that but this ones perfect...not loud as stage 3 + muffler as the title says LOL

 

UPDATE:

ok i just installed the new 4" slashed cut rolled tips....ughh it looks like the stock type s tips on steriods (since its bigger)

and guess what...ITS FKN LOUDER...2x louder than b4....ughhh sooo annoyed/stressed.....ok ok in conclusion...big tips = LOUD

my old tips were 3.5" outside and 2.7" inside
this one is 4" outside and 3.7 inside....AICH!

i feel like Tom now...wanna go back to stock..but i cant!!! dammit i really regret not buying Al's type s mufflers *kicks my head

Got the 6x27 magnaflow today.

Holy shit, that thing is huge. Something that you'd see on a big farm truck!

Hopefully work will be slow and I can spend more time working on the exhaust than sitting in front of these displays!

 

LOL well IMHO the tips look much better, I think haha I'll get a pic up later tonight. But yeah I'm like a stage 3 again. Time for a 18" resonator!

yeah...i was anti magnaflow,borla, flowmaster when i had the RSX too....but heh i like quads and only magnaflow/flow/borla/sebring can make it possible haha

TL = Japanese born in America car so its fine for me haha
RSX = Japanese born in Japan then became a fob here so i think only JDM is the way for her

Hah, no worries. The exhaust that's coming out won't have the same tips. They will actually be custom manufactured 2-piece tips(eh, 3 piece if your speaking technically).

I'm diggin your exhaust though. I think you have an exhaust fetish just as I do. =)

 

Ya, took out the exhaust last night and held it up there.

It'll take up all of the space from the s-bend to about 6" behind the slight bend at the flange up front.

I never expected an exhaust to be such an adventure.........

 

I think b18 more than has an exhaust fetish, I think after the 3rd setup we thought he had a fetish... Now I am sure he needs to go to Exhaust Anonymous... THIS DUDE JUST KEEPS SWITCHING IT UP.... I guarantee you this magnaflow setup will last no more than 15 days as is....
