Stage 3 with upgraded muffler?

Hey guys, I know this has been discussed many times before but I still didn't find answers. I have the stage 3(dynomax) resonator upgrade. I love the way it sounds now, but louder would be perfect. So I want to change my mufflers but I'm not really sure which ones to get. I'm on a limited budget since I'm a college student haha and I just ordered my ASPEC lilp kit last night. Any suggestions would be nice. I've heard some HKS mufflers and they sounds pretty sick . Something nice but not too expensive

save you $ and do it right. Price should not be an issue if you want it to sound good imo

My friend is selling his AC Schnitzer exhaust and I was wondering would those fit/work with the TL fine or would that be wierd?

what the hell is that...

anyway many shops use magnaflows as their universal... if you want to save money go that route... it is by the the best bang for the buck, plus you can go dual tips on each side if the shop you are going to knows their stuff

Now for performance and sound
HKS sounds awesome

APEXi is good stuff too

he typed in korean ... i know what it says, but I'll leave it to him to explain what he wrote.

i personally think the dynomax is enough considering I don't want popos crawling down my back every time I pass by one

^no worries, i have the hks. as long as you don't drive like a fool everywhere and rev like crazy you'll be fine. when you get used to it, you will know how to gas it right if you need to be quiet(aka stealth mode). if you ever get pulled over, just say you bought the car with them on, and you'll be on your way.

I don't think they have a universal application, so you would have to find either a new or used setup and chop it up. Their mufflers are pretty pricey though, you are paying mainly for the name, but it would be awesome to see it on a TL.

Stealth mode is your friend... in NYC though they see your canister and pull you over for it... just for the canister... but you get a summons show up to court tell them you got a silencer, show a random picture and boom dismissed, just a small price to pay for a sweet sound lol

Yeah that's what I was thinking of doing but we'll see what happens

Stillhere-Really?! You can get pulled over for a muffler swap? How are they about that in Virginia? Damn, I miss Florida now

don't be scurred. it depends on the state. depends on the cop. depends on how crazy or not you drive. a lot of things. exhaust or not, cops will pull you over w/e they feel like it.

no no I am not meaning to discourage you, I live in NYC, within the past year I've gotten 15 exhaust tickets for my civic (magnaflow cat back), it is a beast, even I think it is too loud...

But for my type s, I am going to do the true dual using the APEXi WS2... don't get discuraged...

ps. the WS2's are nicer than the comptech... Evil Grin

Damn APEXi WS2's haha those are sick! Haha, actually your story really encouraged me again! True dual setup huh? Are you doin that from the cat or straight pipe it?

before the 3rd cat... the pipes drop down and meet into one, I am in the talks to drop is dual from then back... problem is I may want to supercharge first because I won't see any gains without it... I know if I replace the 3rd cat with a testpipe I will see some gains but I don't want to tinkle with it without first supercharge....

when I do supercharge I will run straight pipe deleted 3rd cat with 2 A'PEXi WS2's... one angled to the left and the other angled to the right a la comptech style

Part Numbers:
156-A012 (Angled to the right)
156-A013 (Angled to the left)

You're setup sounds awesome, especcially if you're gonna be boosted! Thanks for that info/pics. I don't think I'm going to do true dual, because it probably won't be worth it(or would it?) but I'm definitely swapping out the mufflers for some nice custom ones. Just waiting for my ASpec kit to be installed

i was about to get one a few years back, but didn't wan't to deal with the headache of theft, police etc...

theft wise I just pull out the ecu... and take it home with me... I don't care about the shit resetting I just take it easy for the first half hour... let the ecu relearn...

as for the noise, its a deep tone not no ricer raspitty noisy exhaust... I mean it is a b18 swap tuned skunk2 cams etc...

well let them carry an ecu, then they have to find the cut off switch.. then there is the silent alarm (since my air horn doesn't work) lol... It is so funny my viper remote beeps but they won't know it has an alarm... so by that time I am outside with um lets just say private use of deadly force to defend property and restore order... same goes for my type s... hehheee

OK so I went to a local muffler show called "Monroe Muffler" and the guy was really helpful. I just wanted to get a little familiar with the install prices and he said if I was only doing a muffler swap with minimum adjustment needed, it would be around 50 bucks. I was expecting ATLEAST 150 or something. But then again adjustment will be needed when I decide what to go with.

I really hope you go with A'PEXi... cuz then after seeing the sexyness it will motivate me more heeheheh...

I wish they had the WS Noir in universal... but sadly they don't... check out the ws noir... might motivate you to emulate and paint your tips flat black for the stealthy look

Hmmm I know one of the members, ayethiense(sp?) did that and it looks really good. He has a WDP though, IDK if it will be too much black for NBP? I think I wanna go with a more flashy look. idk though

just got my magnaflows installed along with my stage3....imho...dont do it....WAYYY too loud...it may also be because i have a 5at....cabin drone is crazy around 1500-2500rpm....and i mean CRAZY...idk how it sounds outside...ill get a clip later today.

Ive had a RSX-s with HKS hi power and Top Fuel exhaust (one of the loudest)...and i must say this is loud as those...im going to order the magnaflow resonator now...dont want passengers to complain too much

Honestly I never liked magnaflow sound...

I would have gone with something else...
One of our members has something in the works to market a nice sounding cat back that will be well worth it...

And also with the release of the greddy for 600... kinda puts questions to custom catback mods

Me I am still focused on true dual
