injen is always gonna be more expensive than fujita

you are overpaying for this

the most you should be paying is 220 shipped

$250 seemed a little high to me too, but a black Injen CAI is what I wanted, and if that is what it costs, then so be it... Now I just have to figure out how to put this bad boy on(once I receive it)...

I have seen the DIY for both removing the bumper and installing a CAI, but the guy doing the DIY makes it look so easy.. Is it really that easy?? I am not very good at taking things apart and putting them back together..

Dude i got my self a Fujita for $160 shipped. But if you want to do the injen so let that be it like you said. on another note this is a piece of cake. make sure you look at those DYI video those are very helpful. I did this on my own. Mind you i don't dare take anything apart on my TL

Until I see it, I won't believe it. There is no way to get to the 2nd bolt on the resonator without taking the bumper off.

So you dont need to take the bumper off??

Why in the DIY did they take the bumper off?? Just to make installation easier?

I had my bumper off in less than 10 minutes. I don't see why everyone thinks it's such a big, complicated project.

I'm seeing CAIs on EBay fo $35 - $50... like jdimitr22 said... it's a tube and a pipe!

Am I missing something here? What makes AEM worth 250 when I can get something like this for 35?

1. That intake dosn't even look like it will fit our cars.
2. Build Quality. You get what you pay for no matter how you look at it.

I personally used all the stock parts to the silencer to make a CAI that puts the filter right behind the mesh grill in the front. Cost 4 dollars for a 3''-3'' coupler. AND I didn't take the bumper off either.

yea, bumper removal isnt neccesary, but it does make the job much easier... especially on 07+ because the OEM airbox is slightly different, and its hard to remove it from just inside the wheel well.... plus you gotta drill away at a little tiny metal weld on the OEM box... and getting that large portion of it out through the fender lining is a little difficult...

you will either have to

a) remove wheel (5 min)
b) remove fender lining (5 min)
c) install through wheel well (75-80 minutes)
d) reinstall fender lining (5 min)
e) reinstall wheel (5 min)

thats up to 100 minutes (1hr 4mn)

or

a) remove bumper (15 minutes)
b) install intake (30-45 minutes)
c) replace bumper (15 minutes)

1 hour. 1hr 15min tops.... and you wont cut up your hand trying to go through the wheel well

the metal tube basically replaces the entire plastic intake... and you hook up the two hoses, and the IAT sensor (optional on AEMs) then install the filter on the bottom... and clamp it down

reguardless of price, injen IS proven to create more hp than aem.
and as far as you sri guys, hopefully you already know a cai is superior.
here is a thread from another website you might want to check out- its injen vs aem, and its for the rsx, but an engine is an engine. so if the injen makes more hp on a k20, than im sure its the same for a J series engine:
....
ok so this website wont let me post a c1ub-r5x link, so i will modify the link.

www.c lubrsx.com/cr/SSPTIT.html

just take away the space between the C and the rest of the link to see it, its very informative.

also i used to have an 05 rsx-s with an injen cai and dayam it was nice upgrade.

moderators! why dont you even let us spell c1ubrsx when we are posting!? i mean its not like we are going to go and buy an rsx over a tl, but that website has some good info and they dont even really sell any good parts for the tl so i dont know what is there to even worry about.
look how much info i am providing that others have flooded your forums with, same question after same question- which cai is best?
and i am just trying to post a link to clear up YOUR bandwidth so people are educated on there cars.

Yeah, an engine is an engine, so they must all respond to different mods exactly the same.

the post power you're getting is around 5 or 6whp...I don't think brand really matters when the figures are that low And for what its worth, the AEM was proven to show more gains than the rest.

^^Exactly. A 1 hp advantage one intake may show on one run will be written off as the dyno's error margin anyway, so buy whatever intake you like best, ie. color, price, brand etc. Just stay away from the $30 specials.

Ditto, thinking back, I'm just thinking what a pain in the ass it would have been to try to drill the box out from inside the wheel wheel well. The 1/2 hour spent removing/reinstalling the front bumper was well worth it IMO.

It makes thing sooo much easier and it is not hard to get the front bumper on and off.

I put it in a couple of weeks ago..
I used San Diego's DIY(forget his screen name). Bumper removal was simple and installing the CAI wasn't too bad..

I love the way my car sounds now.. You cant really hear it until you step on the gas, which i really like.. I did not want to hear the engine all the time..

As far as performance, It feels like the car gained some power.. I have no idea how much, but it feels quicker and more powerful..

One thing, i hear a whistle now... Is that normal?

I had an AEM on the 2nd Gen TL-S and it sounded better than the Injen I have on the 3rd Gen TL-S...can't tell performance wise. The whistle is normal, you hear it when you step lightly on the gas from 1.5k to 2.5k rpm.

Where is the comparison to the Fujita? An "engine is an engine" isn't really accurate. The "way" an RSX engine is tuned for intake may be SIGNIFICANTLY different than the TL (different sized openings, fuel delivery, etc) so the large difference seen on the RSX may well not be applicable to the TL (at all).

I think I saw side-by-side comparisons of Fujita vs. AEM vs. Injen in a TL forum some 2 years back when I made my choice. At that point, the difference was quite small (1 or maybe 2 HP) and it was due primarily to the "methods" available from the alternate designs (such as re-locating the O2 sensor) rather than due to any inherent technology isolated to a specific manufacturer.

As others have said, you probably could have gotten the Injen for around $175 in that color but as you know, time has it's own value and chasing all over the internet for the cheapest prices can sometimes be futile (I just spent 6 hours trying to find a mfg hitch for my Highlander only to learn that the site with the lowest prices couldn't get the product for the advertised price..and not worth the additional time to pursue). If you wanted to do the forum a GREAT service, you could get a shop (bumper already removed to save time) to Dyno it before the install and then perform the install (about a 20 minute job since there is no front bumper) and then run the dyno again to show the ACTUAL differences on YOUR car.

Oops - too late as I see now it's already on....nevermind...

what i meant was that honds engines tend to respond in similar ways to one another with bolt-ons. so if one brand seemed to make a little more hp than the other on a 2.0 honda engine, than chances are it would probably be the same on a 3.2 liter.

a lot of people have fitment issues with ebay cold air intakes. so i dunno it may fit or you could pay $40 for nothing.

I ended up going with the chrome Injen (although I'm having a bit of buyer's remorse thinking about the powdered silver AEM now... wife liked the chrome). EBay 232 shipped.

It's in Portland now, should have it on the 13th for a Saturday install.
