Exhaust system

I'm now looking for an exhaust system for my TL but their are so many to pick! Someone suggest something!

I like a setup like Slammed_JDM's but my friend told me to get one that's a full system. What does Acurazine recommend?

here are your choices

without modification
comptech catback (might not be available any longer)
xlr8 b&b catback
greddy evo2 catback
atlp base catback (coming soon)

with slight modification (slight meaning you will require type s rear lip)
atlp quad catback
xlr8 b&b catback (also available soon)

your friend is right about going custom, not only will it ultimately end up being the same price as some of the setups mentioend above, but it also will not yield the same gains... trust me I messed with exhaust hard before I got my greddy evo2s

well if the setup is non resonated it will take time to get used to...

all of the exhaust mentioned above yield similar if not equal gains... so it is all about looks

IMO, the GReddy looks the best (that's what I got). It is a bit loud cuz it comes with NO resonator, but that's really a quick, cheap fix (tons of threads on quieting down exhausts) if the noise bothers you - BUT that noise is fantastic. Really, it's about the look you want - quad, big-barrel (GReddy), etc.. They all sound pretty good.

You're confusing the lads here.....I think you originally meant to say no difference in gains to begin with?

I don't think square tips would look so great on a TL.

as far as cosmetical look for your car....i reccomend not relying so heavily on others opinion b/c in the end your droping the change and driving it.

question is, are more leaning toward looks or performance gains?

I was solely reffering to the long list of available catbacks... not reffering to the custom setups

Personally, i would wait for the ATLP...comptech is good, but someone correct me if im wrong here, arent comptech flanges crap? Also, i think they use silly clamp system to hook up all the piping. ATLP, i believe, is a flange and bolt setup all the way thru. ATLP comes off as overall better quality to me.

^ Link to the install insturctions, and shows pics of the compech.

The Excelerate/Billy Boat exhaust is similar to Comptech in overall aesthetics, but I don't know if it's available or not. Supposed to be $975 for the resonated version. Comparing this Comptech clip to the single available Excelerate clip, I almost think the Comptech sounds ever so slightly better, but clips aren't that reliable. One thing I like on the Comptech is the resonated tips.
