?'s about stock intake, please help!

I want to get the AEM CAI yet is the Injen better/louder? Also to make a long story short, my car is a lease yet i plan to mod it because i might end up buying it after the contract is done. Will a CAI void my warranty? If the answer is yes then can the stock CAI go back on without problems? Because it wouldnt go back on my evolution VIII once i removed it so just wondering. 2) do i need a bypass valve or its not necessary? The dealer told me i could do whatever i feel like to the car as long as it'd make it better not worse. So i could tell them i installed the intake for better gas mileage. 3) will i get a check engine light or will my car start acting stupid due to lack of gas not compensating the new amount of air? I had to reflash my ecu back when i had my evo. Well any help would be appreciated.

Modifications only void the warranty if a failure is the direct result of the modified part. If you go into the dealer with a CAI, they will more than likely denote it in the compter. If your intake should happen to pull in water, for example, and your engine hydrolocks, you're screwed.

my opinion is that wait until you're ready to buy it, when installing the CAI, you have to drill out a couple of riveted parts from the stock intake and the dealer may or may not notice it when you're giving back the car to them if you decide not to buy it then....modding a lease is like doing remodeling on your time share...

Like i said it was a long story and i ended up leasing. But i still could mod the car as long as it wont make the car worse. What do you have to drill out? doesnt the AEM kit come with everything thats needed?

The AEM kit comes with everything you need-and at least three things you do not need (2 decals and a plate frame.). When the lease is over-- just put the original intake back on. You can use a couple of selftaping screws where the two rivits were removed. No one will ever know there was ever cold air intake installed.
