several threads exist on this topic already. The original thread Richie posted has the dyno charts for a base TL a/t. With a Type-S you're looking at 15 hp at least.

just buy it. It won't make your car much louder. You won't even recognize it's there if you are cruising, and under load only at higher rpm's.

I've got PCD's + aem V2 + v3 Jpipe and cruising my car is as quiet as it always was. Once I punch it it opens up but the V2 still is louder than the jpipe and pcd's combined, really.

I just installed my J-pipe from Richie on Saturday. I have put 150 miles on the RV6 V3.
I have no other mods.
At vtec (about 4300 RPM all the way to 7000) you can definitely hear it getting deeper much like a cold air intake would. But if you have the radio on then it's barely noticeable.
Also the gains are awesome! I have a 6MT and the accels are a lot smoother. My 4th gear pulls are pretty wicked.

Yes, it's $470.00

Research!

I chose the J-pipe because it really is the best gains for my money. Specially Richies New pipe that he just came out with.

It's up to you on how far you would like to take your car.
My intentions were to only get this, but now that I have a taste for the MOD BUG I would like to take it a step further and make it growl!

I chose the J-pipe as my first mod because when I researched I found that it had the most gains for the best price.

Now, if you want to install a cold air intake for 300 dollars and get minimal gains, then go for it.
With the RV6 V3 it gave me any where from 12 - 15hp for $470.00

More I read about everyone's experience with this new V3 J-pipe it does make more sense to get them. The HP to $$ ratio is alot better than any CAI.

IMO, CAI, of all mods for the TL, is the most complete waste of money.

Even Type-S tail lights has more gains than a CAI.

^^ I agree! I felt nothing when I installed mine! I actually thought it made it slower but I either got use to it or it was in my head!!! I will say though that is sounds awesome but for a HP gain it is worthless.

I bought my CAI for sound only, I knew it wouldn't be anything more than about 3-4 hp if anything at all. It produces a great growl only when you want it too. The RV3 j-pipe gave my car a bit more noticable tourque, but no additional noise.

+1

I love Richie's new pipe. No extra noise (Except during WOT), better throttle response, and more tourque... A definate must.

Totally disagree, the CAI definitely makes a difference. CAI was best mod for the money back when we had the AEM V1 and no J-pipe available. Maybe not so impressive on a dyno. But drive the car, it's not in your head. Drive a stock car back to back and compare, huge difference.

But now things have changed. If you are going to do a CAI then you might as well go all out and get a AEM V2 but it is the most expensive CAI. If you are comparing AEM V2 to the RV6 V3, go J-pipe first. It is the new "best power to money ratio" mod right now.

It will fit with no other mods. A very simple install (except for removing the rusted on bolts)

Ya'll might want to research on here about the weapon R intake and how it doesn't do much for our engines.

Ya'll should trade in that SHORT RAM AIR for a AEM V2 Cold air intake.

Its a 3rd cat, it helps with the ULEV rating.
You will pass inspections, as there are TWO MAIN CATS.
all this has been discussed in the original RV6 V3 thread.

Honda builds one of the best stock air intakes in the auto industry. Thats why k&n says there is virtually no gains with their filter on our cars. I knew it wouldn't do anything at all and neither will yours if anything, I got it for the sound and it sounds great at WOT.

Yes that is where I am at but you will get Rasp between about 3 and 4K RPM. It sounds bad and I am going in tomorrow to change out the Dynomax resonator to an AERO to hopefully aleve the issue.

I am completely stock save the J-pipe.
I immediately noticed a deeper sound, akin to a CAI at vtec. (4300-7000RPM)

I also love the sound of the Stage 3 but when I added the pipe I got the evil shitty rasp! I found one other member on here that also ran into this with the Stage 3 Dynomax setup...everyone else has been golden!!
