That should tell you there was an error with the graph.
But just in case, I will only add that it is basic math. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get a 40 hp avg when your peak is only 16 hp. The avg can never be higher than the peak. Its like trying to tell someone that 2+2= 17
Not hating on Richie or his product. Just pointing out an obvious misunderstanding.

Definition of average hp is the horse power delivered to the transmission when all accessories that are standard on that model are connected. Hence if you have an air conditioner, power steering, a high volume oil pump, high output alternator, high volume belt driven fan, a manual fuel pump, etc. you will have a lot less net horse power than you would if you transferred THAT SAME ENGINE to a car with manual steering, no A/C, electric fan car, a normal oil pump and an electric fuel pump.
Getting from peak or average to front wheel is much more difficult. Most people throw out a percentage figure and call it good. This is incorrect as the losses to friction increase geometrically as RPMs increase. So at 6,500 RPMs the losses as a percentage are much greater than at 2,000 RPMs. Even so the high end estimates for a regular type automatic transmission at high RPMs could approach 25%, the low end estimates for a manual light weight 4 speed at low RPMs would be a bit under 10%.

Thats not true unless you mean that the average can never be higher than the highest peak gain at any particular RPM. ie if the highest gain is at 4500rpm the average can not be higher than this. The average CAN be higher than the peak hp at 6800 gain.

I'm sure rich is going for the win on this one. I think he's going to get the graphs redone and the figures recalculated or something. But I am still somewhat confused, in Richies first post, the peak whp for the j pipe ALONE is 20 whp but when coupled with the new exhaust is goes down to 16whp? Should it not increase the peak whp since it looks like high flow? I am somewhat confused but still absolutely confident in Richies product. I hope Rich and sort this out, I'm afraid the skepticism and criticism might be turning ppl off.

You all are seeing why we *love* Rich. He is a man of honor. I am being serious.
If there is a problem of any kind, Rich will fix it. He has proven himself, numerous times, in the past on Acurazine to be a man of very high honor.

forgive me for not understanding, and trust me, I have tried to understand, but I am not sure which one is better: whp or wtq?
If we loss whp and gain wtq, isn't it as if you didn't really change anything at all? I mean, if wtq is what really matters, then wouldn't more people aim to have more wtq instead of whp?
iono, maybe I'm getting this all wrong.

I will definitely let you know when I am ready. Any chance I could borrow the car for a week? So I can get ever combination. V3 Jpipe, V3 Jpipe + PCD and V3 Jpipe + PCD + Exhaust
They have the exact Mustang dyno as Benchmark.

Hey Rich, is it possible to get some dyno runs for ppl without any mods? like dop a dyno run with your exhaust + base TL? you have runs for the jpipe and the jpipe + exhaust, but no graph for just the exhaust.

what about cars that wana run the catilitic converters i mean its pretty much a straight pipe exhaust from what i see... out here in cali you cant run without cats ... i mean i guess u can but you are not supposed to.... i would think you should see some gains from a base TL to a TL with no cats and straight through exhaust but 40hp i doubt.... also just interested on how this is considered a "true Dual" when the jpipe and exhaust connection merge into an "X" ?? looks like a nice set up but more track than street

I should get the tips in a few days then we can start discussing tips.

I'm in NJ, so I'm also kind of interested in what folks in emissions states do...(I have a feeling they know the third one is supposed to be there)...switch pipes around when the time comes? Run a hi-flow cat(s) full time? Maybe a "Cheshire" Cat? Or, rely on "friends"? I used to be able to do the latter, my bro had a glass shop...but he transferred to the license-plate business
It's all state-facility only here, they squeezed the private shops out of the inspection racket a few years back...after a lot of them invested $$$ in equipment to meet the new requirements.

The only people that had a "true" dual without a crossover were "Kicker" (aka, cowboy) trucks here in Texas. And they were not interested in performance in the slightest. They did it for the rasp sound, which was a kicker-truck signature sound.
