Haha never they are exclusive to the RV6 exhaust. I have a great deal of invested in these tips.

also, how big are the tips going to be? I am refering to the dual, not quad. I was hoping in the ball park of 4.5", I am afraid the quads for the base will look too wimpy.
I am doing a quad base as well with 4 tips. I think it looks pretty goods M3ish. Not sure how much the high flow precats will be I estimate around $250 more then the PCDs.

They only look small since the 3.5" type-s tips are pretty big. I played around with them a little and they look pretty good, kind of like a M3.

Yes I do his name is Matt and lives down the street from me. We will have clips up when everything is ready.

Update on the tips, turns out industrial black chrome is not the same as the automotive stuff. It looks like plain black paint without any gray hue. They gave me some contacts of some companies that might do black chrome. I will keep you guys updated on my progress.

You guessed it, I have to ask if the HFPC's will be Cali smog friendly?

Also, would you do a special on the entire package (HFPC, V3 Jpipe, Exhaust)? Damn it might come down to new wheels or a complete exhaust.

Exactly what I was thinking, 3.5" is huge in comparison. I sketched the 2.5" on my whiteboard and the size looked very appropriate for the base openings. Cant wait to see how this setup turns out

Not sure the cats are approved in all states except Cali I am not sure how much they would dig into it.

Of course I will have a special.

I second that...with the hi-flow precats, no less (not into PCDs, myself).

That said, take your time Richie...nothing would be worse than getting it on, and then hearing "...the new and improved RV6-V2 exhaust fixes all the issues with the first batch..."

RV6,

Again, thanks for offering great products. I will definitely be purchasing your exhaust products in the future.

I browsed the thread and am not sure what exhaust variations will be produced. Owning an 04 TL 6MT with stock rear bumper/lower spoiler, I'm looking at the base TL black chrome variation but am not sure if it will be offered in single or dual tip mufflers (per side).

I do not mind either single or dual, as long as it has a classy sporty look (no gaudy large tips) and not too much louder than stock that it is annoying for people conversing in the cabin.

When finalized, can you please summarize the TL exhaust system variations on the first post of this thread? Thanks.

Sure I will have a mod edit the first post when everything is complete. There have been many changes since the beginning. I am thankful all the help putting this together. Hopefully this project will meet and exceed expectations.

Update the tips have been sent another company that can do the plating. Hopefully we will have results by the end of next week.

CNCed a prototype clamp for the exhaust pipes. This should allow me to ship the exhaust is smaller sections.

Keep in mind this is only a prototype I will most likely pay some professionals to make them in the end. It took 3 hours the surface quality looked great until the last few pass. I think the base material became so thin that the part moved and the surface was scuffed. Any machinists out there?

I am trying my best to get them out before Oct 10th before I leave for my trip. If not I will finish them when I returned in mid Nov. Right now I am still waiting on the tips and samples of the plating.

I am terribly sorry about the delays. If I can't get them out in Oct I will discount those that left deposits.

I rather have the exhaust perfect in Nov. then rushed for October... But that is just my

I left 4 Deposits... does that mean that I will get a super discount Just kidding.

Let me know when you have the final cost (post discounts and such for those of us who have paid and/or brought the J-pipe and PCD's) so I can put down the final amount. I really want to be the first one on the East Coast who has your eshaust.

Thanks again Richie

Seconded, thirded, and fourthed. Richie, you've put a lot into this...no need to kill yourself and besides, you don't want to spend the whole time you're away thinking you could've done something better...I have three kids with ADHD, I have developed patience that I never thought possible ...I can certainly wait for the exhaust (which does NOT mean that anyone else can line-jump me, LOL!)

And I just sent a 2nd deposit...the dude from the Smiths is making me look bad

Thanks for understanding guys.

Check out the exhaust clamp. I am thinking about having them engraved with the logo and serial number.

This must be for shipping purposes. Makes the exaust more collapsable if those two pipes aren't welded together. Having the serial number and logo on this piece is a good idea.

Whats the point of the serial number/logo there?...is it visible? I'd rather see it etched onto the tips.

Agreed...and I'm pretty sure that's the first time I've ever thought that about an *exhaust clamp*. Richie's en fuego...

I don't know...I guess it depends on the design, size, color, etc...I could see something on the tips looking really hot, or really bad. Thing is, what I think looks really hot, somebody else might think looks really bad...or what looks great on NBP might come off different with other colors. Then you have different bumpers, custom tail-lights, etc.

Plus, how much of the tips are really going to be visible when installed? Would suck if it was a real nice logo on there, but all you ever see is "R\"

Yes, this part does have it function. It will allow for a smaller shipping box and give some adjustability to the exhaust. Tip alignment always seems to be the hardest part of an exhaust.

It is visible if you look closely. I will try etching the tips after I get them back from the plater. I am not sure how it will react with the finish. If it causes flaking or compromises the finish I will reconsider doing it.

I thought about that as well the side of the tip might not be visible.

Yes and no, It looks beefy enought to be durable but from what ive heard the TL has problems with weighty exhausts causing droop, and that thing has to be a few pounds.

And of course any saved weight is a good thing!

Its made of aluminum, only weights 11oz might be able to reduce the weight a little more.

That, I didn't know...you just addressed one of my few remaining concerns...brilliant! Seriously, between individual tastes, and the different types of bumpers (base, S, A-Spec, etc), a little adjustability is a HUGE plus, IMO.

I thought about that as well the side of the tip might not be visible.
I was trying to visualize it, picturing the lettering/logo running on the "side" of the tip (along the length, parallel to the ground, etc) vs. "around" the tip (on the "top" of it)...I guess you could run into issues either way with it being hidden, all depends on what you do and the final fit/alignment, which I guess will be a bit different per install.
