RV6 HFPC installation

For anyone who has had the RV6 HFPC's installed by a mechanic, or even the PCD's, what was the price? I had one say it would be $300 and I am really not looking to pay that for installation

Its not exactly what im willing to pay, its that i didnt expect it to be so expensive and wanted to know if i should seek another mechanic. I cant diy it because i dont have the time and by the looks of what everyone says, i dont have the experience

IIRC it's the back one that's a PITA

I did a bunch of work on my car all together so I don't have a separate cost when I did mine, sry.

300 is fair just cuz its a Bitch to do. They have to take off the strut bar and the rear is just awful. Your more than welcome to get another quote from another mechanic. Just know that its illegal by federal law to change out your cats, unless they are damaged. So some shops might not want to do it, but since your in FL you shouldn't have too much issue.

exactly what I was thinking

this isn't just some routine everyday work.. your lucky you even have someone that will do it. 3 hunnid is nothin man. most shops charge 60-80 bucks per hour so that equates to 3.5-5hrs aprox which isn't bad at all

Mitchell's labor time on the cats are 1.5Hrs each. That's probably fair - it wouldn't have taken me that long even on jack stands if I hadn't run across some massive rust. The rear really isn't that bad - just make sure you take off the heat shield or it won't come out easily.

Then perhaps they are adding some labor based on that, but that's not typically how things work in the automotive industry. They bill you based on the labor guide - if the tech gets it done faster, you still pay based on that guide. However, if the tech is a moron, or has an issue, then you don't pay more. At least, if the shop is legit you don't. Granted - this doesn't mean that if OTHER parts aren't impacted you wouldn't then incur the repair of those, but just because it 'takes longer' doesnt mean they bill longer.

It went great, I don't know exactly how long it took them but the performance is noticeable and it sounds great, except for a little rasp at 3500-4000 rpms that I'm currently looking for a resonator for

Ive done a few now and i charge $300 bucks just for the PCD or HFPC. Expesially here in canada with good old rust.

If its a 6 speed stick take the front engine mount bracket off drop motor down a bit and remove from the top .
If it s 6 speed auto remove the shields and drop it out the bottom of the car.

The auto jack shaft sits closer to the block then the standards.
