RL Cam Swap

Hey guys,

Been browsing some cam-swap threads for the TL,

I'm wondering if anyone has successfully done an RL (J35A8) cam swap into the stock J32A3 block on the TL? Its been suggested that the RL cams are the better way to go than the TL-S cams. Would it be relatively problem free on the stock ECU or would I need a standalone (hence my Haltech standalone thread).

Also wondering whether this would be a worthwhile mod in terms of gains after I've exhausted my options as far as bolt-ons go on the TL (mine is an 05 5AT). I'm already planning a HFPC, Jpipe, exhaust and intake install when the weather gets a little better, and the cam swap and 3.7 TB/Mani swap have piqued my interest as the next step.

Would love for some feedback!

it is plug and play. No one has done a before and after dyno. So no idea what the gains will be.

I would suggest you do the bolt on stuff first unless. You have to do your timing belt. That would be the best time to do a camshaft swap.

Thanks for the lightning fast response man

Oh bolt-ons will definitely be happening first - This is just some planning and foresight, and a lot of reading and learning. I'd REALLY like to stay with N/A on this car and see what I can do with it (300 whp is my eventual goal). This is my first vehicle but I'm fairly handy (dad is an electrical engineer, must be in the genes) so I'm just excited to learn as I go.

As far as timing belt - I'm only at 60k miles, so thankfully a little while to go until the 105k service, but that's also something to think about.

Also I know the Bisi stage 2s have been suggested as well but I'm more inclined to go OEM Honda and stick with something I know.
