Resetting ECU?

i just want to clarify that resetting the ecu on a 08 tl is the same as most other cars- unplug the negative battery terminal on a cold engine for 10 min, plug it back in and let the car idle until the fan turns on, then shut it off.
ill be installing a CAI soon and will need to reset the ecu afterwards...or will i? have you all reset your ecu after engine mods?

No need to reset after CAI install.

If you disconnect your battery cable, you'll have to enter Radio and Navi codes.

Make sure you have the Radio and Navi codes BEFORE you disconnect the battery.

If you have the NAVI codes, resetting your ECU never hurts.

On another thread it was said, and I did it last time I needed to reset the ECU, to pull fuse number 8 and 19. That way you won't have to enter any codes for the radio or the nav. The fuses are located under the hood, in the corner closest to the driver. Flip over the cover to see the exact location of the fuse and there is a tool to remove the fuses in there too. It's also on page 329 of the owners manual.

pulling fuse number 8 and 19 are the same as unplugging the negative cable on the battery?

That's what someone else said to do to reset the ecu and it made sense to me. You are interupting the circuit by pulling the fuse, the same as cutting power to the circuit. Unless my thinking is way off, which has been known to happen sometimes.
I couldn't tell a difference between unhooking the battery and pulling the fuses, as far as the way the car acted after I did it.
