These results aren't exactly earth shattering. When you look at a dyno chart you cant just read the peak HP and torgue numbers. You need to consider real world operating conditions. That means high heat and power where you need it, down low.
Almost all of the gains were above 6000 RPM and in some of the dyno runs, the intakes lost power below 4000 RPM over the stock airbox. I dont know about you, but my car doesnt see 6000 RPM very often. What I need is more power below 3000 RPM>
Also during the high temp runs, the aftermarket intakes made the same or less power than the stock airbox.
Compare http://www..com/popup.htm?../product...sSTOCKhigh.jpg (173/125 for stock airbox) with http://www..com/popup.htm?../product...AIvsINJEN3.jpg (AEM 175/125 and Injen 184/129)
On that last dyno chart the peak HP for the Injen seems great (184) but below 6500 RPM it barely gained 3 HP over stock.
On a dyno with the hood up, 68 degree outside air temps, and revving the crap out of the engine, these intakes seem to provide a few extra horses (9 at 6700 RPM). No one runs their car like that in real life. So what these dyno results show that these intakes do little more than make a lot of noise.
