Hey, is that Amazon resonator the same size as the stock one, cause the one im looking at is 2 inches smaller? (Could you possibly send me the link for the one you bought if you could. Thank you)

There is absolutely no compromise in terms of performance, etc. No gain, but no loss either.

Only thing to watch for is to make sure the pipe your shop uses is good (galvanized? or SS?) and they do good welds. Otherwise you could get some excessive rust or possibly leaks.

Did this today. Did it as much for weight loss as sound but can't say I'm disappointed. That little muffler is pretty heavy, probably at least 10lbs. Sound isn't terribly noticeable but is a little pronounced at high revs. My muffler shop charged me a bit more than some have paid ($50) but they're a "mom and pop" place that earned my loyalty a long time ago so I go with them instead of the big boys.

Good little mod I doubt I'm going to go with the magnaflow resonator. I like the sound as is.

I need some help deciding between Stage 2 or Stage 3? I tried watching the videos on page 1 over and over again and I just can't decide. Is the only difference between the two stages the volume of the sound? and how big is the difference?

I'm currently running on stage 3 exhaust (Dynomax resonator+mid muffler delete). In fact, this is probably the most tasteful exhaust sound I've heard on luxury sports cars, surpassing G35.

It's a bit loud when cold, and moderately loud when warm. The resonator makes the vehicle sound like a dangerously fast sleeper with a well tuned NA V6 engine in it, although the engine is actually stock. When cruising, there is no drone in cabin, except when engine rev is too low and going to stall.

However, if you live in an area where cars with very loud exhaust roaming around like me, removing the two rear mufflers as well may be better. I increasing feel the car being too quiet when those M3s and Evos with test pipes flying around me.

The different is not big. But stage 3 has a much better tone than stage 2.

If you want it loud, remove all mufflers.

Anyone done Stage 3 with the dual mufflers removed? How would that sound? It probably wouldn't rasp because of the dynomax resonator, might drone though, it'd be pretty loud.

Finally got the stage 3 done on Friday.. and I'm definitely glad I went the stage 3 route. The sound is so nice and definitely a big boost from stock sound. It's actually louder than I thought it was going to be, but it's a pleasant surprise. For people who can't really afford the expensive exhaust setups and just want sound, this is perfect. In total I spent $120. Now I just need to find nice quad tips to fit on a base 04 bumper.

No, now you need to find a J-Pipe. Deepen the tone just a bit.

THEN you can worry about looks.

Hm yes perhaps I'll try to find a jpipe. I read somewhere I think that there's a bit of rasp with jpipe&stage3 combo?

And back to tips for a minute, anyone know any quad tips that would fit a base 04 TL no aspec kit? I know there's a new vendor selling them but I need the aspec kit for it or a type s rear.

STAGE 1: I did this mod yesterday. I saw NO DIFFERENCE in sound. The tone changed about .000001% between 2-3,000 RPMs but thats about it. If you're looking for a sound difference go for a Stage 2 exhaust. After market resonators are MUCH lighter as well.

just got my exhaust work done this past weekend. Decided to be a little different and run a straight pipe from the resonator back. (keeping everything stock from there on) sounds like pure tits.

I have the RV6 v3 jpipe and mid muffler delete. Just enough exhaust note plus the jpipe does deepen it a bit. And what's not to like about a little extra kickin the pants? Especially with the 6MT

What length of piping do u need to delete the mid-muffler?..

i know the diameter is 2.5"s but how long?... would around a foot be long enough?

If you take it to a shop and they don't know what size pipe to replace your midmuffler with take it somewhere else. Any place worth their salt will know what to do (and you will get clean welds). I priced out 7 difference places in Atlanta and the Meineke on Hemphill Ave did it for 50 bucks (ask for Chuck). It sounds soooo sexy.

I bought my NBP 6MT a month ago and was unimpressed with the sound of the exhaust. My buddy has an SRT-4 that he got when he was 18 and that exhaust system sounded awesome to me back when I was in high school but not so much now. I was looking for something with some aggression but lacking the braces of the teenage years.

I recently landed a corporate job that involves driving my colleagues at times and the rice-can drone-tone was not an option. So, after checking out youtube videos I opted to go with removing my Mid-Muffler. All I can say is the sound is not overbearing, but damn, it is sexy. It kicks in around 2,200 and lets loose from there.

If you are looking for something without drone and a better representation of that beautiful machine under the hood, chop your mid muffler and put in a 2.5" pipe. Everything else sounds like a riced out civic to me, but different strokes for different folks.

Here is my car starting and up to 2,500 RPM, I will upload a higher RPM version later.

Cheers!
JW

im asking the length bc ive called a bunch of shops and theyre quoting me $100+ for the mm delete and installing the dynomax...

one place gave me a good price but they only have aluminum piping. i live in canada so i want to get ss piping... so thats why im asking, im gna bring in my own piping and if anyone knows the size.. i dnt wanna buy a foot and then after find out i need 18" or something... i guess ill just jack my car up tmw and measure myself

Just did my stage 1 today. So far it's good but I'll let it break in first and then will try to hear the difference then. Revving with stage 1 has a great sound to it. Like others have said, youtube videos on stage 1 do no justice. After letting it break in and want to get closer to a G35 sounds, then I'll go to stage 3.

No issues. Sounds great. Add a J-Pipe at some point.

I'm thinking about going with Stage 3. Is there anyone in the Portland/Vancouver metro area that has done this? If so, could I meet up with you somewhere so I can hear what it sounds like? Also, where did you get it done? The couple of places that I checked wanted $100 and that is with me supplying the resonator.

Thanks in advance.

Best inexpensive mod I've done. Stage 4 for $100 already got a few comments regarding it.

Should be about 50 bucks to get it put in...
I have stage 3 and love it...looking to maybe add another resonator to get rid of the jpipe rasp.

I may be swapping for a much longer resonator to counter the rasp that comes from the J pipe.
