Removing Intake Resonator

I've been looking for videoes on removing the resonator for my 07 TL Type-S. But I've been seeeing threads that yeah it'll make it louder, but that it actually lowers the whp and that it's actually negative to take it off. Idk, thoughts? And also, does anyone have a link to a page or video that actually shows how to do it?

The resonator has nothing to do with performance. Remove it and you will get better intake growl.

It's a pretty easy DIY. I did mine a ways back and was somewhat disappointed when I got done with it, don't know if I expected to really be able to tell/hear a difference but I didn't notice anything.

Have you noticed if it affected your performance or not?

It will give you no performance gains. Heck even adding a full cai will give you close to zero performance gains. But if you are looking for a mean sounding wot growl I'd go with a cai. If you decide you want that you can always check out EndLess RPM they have a few choices I personally prefer the aem v2

Yeah a lot of people have been saying to do the AEM V2. Is that what you did on yours?

Well then performance wise what did you do? I'm just starting out on doing it.

Yes I have the aem v2 while I can't really say it gave me gains. I will say I noticed a little better throttle response and the car seemed to "flow" better if that makes sense lol. But I also have xlr8 j pipe and catback which I'll be selling in a week to get the new exhaust system that endlessrpm is making. It's a better design v band clamps and straight through muffler design for better airflow.

The best bang for your buck is pre cat deletes or port and polish your intake manifold and runners.

Okay cool beans. So keeping the aem v2 and your j-pipe. I'll check out endlessrpm too.

Do you understand yet!?

this nigga dumb as hell! lol

cold air intakes DONT gain HP, as the stock system is already a cold air intake...
ive already pointed you in the direction of a jpipe....first, as that will give you the best gains.

Like Justin said, you don't get any HP gains from this or a CAI. The only reason you'd do this is for noise, which I couldn't even notice. It doesn't hurt anything if you do it, but I couldn't tell I did it so it was basically a waste of my time.

Doing this is a waste of time. I regret doing it before my CAI. Just purchase a new one

I think paying $250 for noise rather than get it for free somehow validates and reassures some people

Why don't you just get aftermarket CAI and forget about removing intake silencer? You'll probably need it attached if you wanna get your smog check done later on depends on what state you're living. I believe Injen intake for TLS is already carb approved(CARB #: D-496-5) so it's legal to drive.
