Questions related to 07 TL-S Brakes Systems

Hi Guys,

I'm sure some or most of you have upgraded your 07/08 TL-S Brakes Systems.

What have you upgraded?

Front Rotors? Drilled? Slotted? What Brand? Brembo? Or? What's the Model #? If other brand, are they compatible with Brembo Calipers? Or have you upgraded the Front Calipers, too? If so, why?

Have you upgraded the Rear Calipers? If not, then, What about Rear Rotors? Is there Brembo Drilled or Slotted compatible with stock Calipers? If so, what's the model #? Or other brands.

Do drilled or slotted rotors need resurfacing every once in a while?

I know these are lots of questions.

Thanks in advance

Try searching. Our vendors have many options. Try Mr. Heeltoe or Excelerate.

ok, went to
http://www.heeltoeauto.com

Nothing,

so, I've tried http://www.excelerateperformance.com/

and only Rotora,

got, Basic OEM:

R.40061
Axle Rear
Position Left (Drivers Side)
Position Right (Passenger Side)

R.40062
Axle Front
Position Right (Passenger Side)
Position Left (Drivers Side)

Drilled & Slotted:
R.40061.2C
Axle Rear
Position Right (Passenger Side)

R.40062.1C
Axle Front
Position Left (Drivers Side)

R.40062.2C
Axle Front
Position Right (Passenger Side)

R.40061.1C
Axle Rear
Position Left (Drivers Side)

Slotted:
R.40061.2S
Axle Rear
Position Right (Passenger Side)

R.40061.1S
Axle Rear
Position Left (Drivers Side)

R.40062.1S
Axle Front
Position Left (Drivers Side)

R.40062.2S

Now, my questions still remains: Are these compatible with Front Brembo Calipers? What about rear Calipers? Have you upgraded them?

Do we only have Rotora as a choice?

if you want the full low down on upgrading your braking system pm excelerate

josh (excelerate) has a few recommendations and can outfit your car with some pretty great prices

Some Options
Stop Tech or Rotora Slotted Rotors
Stop Tech or Rotora Drilled Rotors
Rotora Slotted and Drilled Rotors

for pads there are a ton of options depends on what you want performance, quiet, less dust etc.

You're not doing it right.

HeelToe Auto for Racing Brake and StopTech (YES for Brembo):

http://www.heeltoeauto.com/Heeltoe-B...-pr-40007.html

Excelerate Performance for Rotora or StopTech - you have to pick the part for YOUR car (i.e. TL MT or TL-S = same brakes).

Personally, I'd recommend slotted over drilled/slotted, but either way is fine if you get a good brand. Racing Brake ET series pads are the shit.

Almost nobody upgrades rear calipers - very little gain for the cost.

OE pads are Brembo.

Yes, IMHO, the ET500 is better than stock. Stops as good - probably better, lower cost, less dust (not no dust), no noise (same as stock).

what about the front rotors? on heeltoe the OEM replacements (stoptech) cost around 200 while the racingbrake cost around 600. why is there such a price gap?

thanks again for all the info.

Racing Brake is a light-weight, 2-peice rotor with a special vane design for cooling. $$$$. Some of the best brakes available for this car (Rotora makes a 2-peice as well).

StopTech is a simple match to the OE design with slots. I tracked the StopTech fronts with ET500 pads this week-end, they did very well. Some moderate fade late in each session, but overall very good for the price.

Hey Bearcat94,

Thanks for the response.

But, I went to StopTech, and it's confusing, there so many different stuff.

I don't understand the list at all, I mean I see that there are different size, for sure.

There is AeroRotors, AeroRotor Direct Replacement Kits and SportStop Direct Replacement Rotors.

However, which are which? Could you help me out?

If I want Front Rotors to go with stock Brembo calipers do they work? By the way, I went to Brembo site, and they also got drilled or slotted rotors, are those any better than StopTech? What about Rotora?

So, nobody upgrades Rear Calipers, right? Then what about rotors?

Not everything that StopTech or Rotora or Brembo (or whomever) makes will fit your car.

Go to these sites and look up fitments for your car:

http://www.heeltoeauto.com/Heeltoe-B...-pr-40007.html

http://store.excelerateperformance.c...s/c-10043.aspx

Then, once you see what's available, go to the manufacturers web site for that model/type (Racing Brake AeroRotors for example) and read the product description and benefits.

I don't think you can buy Brembo Slotted or Drilled direct; and be careful of no name companies that buy blanks and drill them themselves.

Direct Replacement - Exact OE size and fit and/or OE Style Design.

When in doubt Call or PM Josh at Excelerate or Marcus at Mr. HeelToe. They wil discuss your need, your car, your budget and put you onto the right product.
