pulley or pulleys?

UR pulley and crank pulley….two different pulleys or the same? I did a search and some people call it UR crank pulley… little confused… I’m new to the Acura world so don’t jump on me. The UR pulley sounds like an awesome mod since I definitely need more response from the torque area…

Oh, and just wanted to say the rear sway bar is freak’n awesome!!!

Thanks in advance…

yeah, same thing cody. Theres only one pulley made for our car, it's the crank pulley. unorthodox makes 2, a lightweight underdrive pulley, and a lightweight stock sized pulley. And I got the sway bar too, it is awesome! Good luck w/ your modding and welcome to acura's forums.

The underdriven one takes some power away from the electrical and the AC stuff. It's only a small percent and is hardly noticeable. The amount taken away gives it a bit more oomph then the stock sized one. Most of the power gain is from the decreased weight of the pulley itself.

The stock size pulley is the stock size so it does not effect the other pulleys on the engine.

If you are running a fairly high watt sound system in the car, you need to get the regular sized pulley.

Unless you are running a high-wattage stereo system or are planning on getting the supercharger (which I think requires a stock size crank pulley), I would go with the underdrive pulley.

I have had mine for almost a year now. In my opinion it gives the most "bang for the buck" of any of my mods. As stated, the gains are really from the substantial decrease in weight over the stock pulley. I do not notice ANY difference in my electrical system from the underdrive component.

This was one mod that was not a DIY for me. The stock pulley is just way too hard to remove. Some have done this as a DIY, and there are many threads dealing with this.

Good luck.

I don't have the supercharger, but I think I remember reading here that having the supercharger requires the stock size pulley. You can do a search to find the thread(s).

The stock size pulley will still help because of the significant weight savings on the crank compared with the heavy OEM pulley.

If you have a supercharger or a stereo system over 600 watts RMS you want the stock size Ultra Sc crank pulley b/c it will not underdrive the accessories and therefore not the S/C either. If you underdrive the pulley system the S/C will make less boost b/c it is run off the pulleys. However, if you have neither of the above then you get the Ultra S underdrive crank pulley. PM me if you need either of them.

What about the complete set of 3 pulleys?
Worth it or no?

From the looks of the picture, was it hard to install the UR pulley? Does the package come with instructions to install?

Sure, it was easy. I took the pulley to a Honda Speciality Shop, and told them to install it. It cost $60, and took just 30 minutes. Easy !!!

I recommend that you don't try it yourself. Correct that... I really, reallly, really recommend that you do not attempt it yourself.

I am very mechanically inclined, and after researching it, I didn't attempt the install myself. Easier to let the shop do it. It is not an issue of skills. It is an issue of having the proper tools.

The stock size pulley is $195 shipped. You can reuse your stock belt since it is a stock size pulley.

Most of the power gains are in the crank and besides they don't offer a 3 pc kit for the TL.

Remember it's based on RMS, not continuous. So if you have an amp rated for 500 watts continuous it's more like 250 RMS
