Pulley or J-pipe?

Should I get the UR pulley or the xlr8 J-pipe first? I've heard of great things from both.

I would say pulley first then order the 3-in-1 (includes the j-pipe) package from Richie V6

or use your credit card and just buy buy buy

I think jpipe first. IMHO the pulley provides a very slight gain. I haven't done the jpipe yet, but I suspect the gain will be larger.

And the reason you are thinking this is because you are forgetting he can get a good discount buying ALL the exhaust components together, right?

Go with the pulley. Then do the whole exhaust....start to finish.

I would say pulley then exhaust. Simply because the pulley is cheaper, goes in quick, and you see some good gains. That way you can have some fun while you wait for your exhaust.

It seems almost unanimous that the pulley is the choice I should go for.

Stock size. Call it planning ahead for a possible supercharger in the future.

Are you talking about the stock OEM size crank pulley? I was considering the UR stock size pulley, but its SO HARD to imagine it would make a diff?

I would just have somebody else install it for $100. 180ft/lbs is nuts.

I just got the RV6 J-pipe/3rd cat delete test pipe and am trying to decide which catback I want(1-2 months away)

I would like to get a stock size pulley now. Which one, where, model #.

Thankyou for info.

IMO, don't worry much about stock size or undersize. The gains come from the lightweight, not from the diameter.

agreed, i like the stock size. for the extra 1hp its not worth it to go through the hassle of getting different belt size, underdriving your A/C,alternator,P/S etc.

It depends...Do you have exhaust mods as yet. (i.e. cat-back or test/race pipe). If so go with the J-pipe from XLR8 or ATLP (not the R-V6 J-Pipe). But if you don't have any exhaust has yet, Go with the Pulley. Thats just my Opinion.

The RV6 3 piece special is pretty hard to beat. I've even shown a couple american muscle car guys the pipes and they were very impressed with the fit and finish, so quality is there. Please don't read into the few threads that discuss which j-pipes are actually "equal length". All 3 j-pipes are equal length.

As for weight, they're stainless and I can't say if they are heavier than stock until I swap mine on Monday, but they look like they will survive a nuclear attack.

So putting just a lightweight OEM size crank pulley will add 10hp to a 2006 TL ?

If so I better order one soon, WOW. Where is the best place to buy one?

if you search the UR crank pulley threads you'll read a lot about the fact that they don't necessarily ADD hp, but free up hp due to its lighter rotational mass. Engine doesn't work as hard to spin this part because its 7-8 lbs lighter than stock. Excelerate has the #s; 4-5 hp gain for the stock size and 6-7 for underdrive, I believe.

The reviews of those that installed it alone was enough to sell me. It used to be that CAI was #1 - do it now - mod. Biggest problem is most have to pay a little extra to get it installed unlike the CAI, which is very DIY.

I went with stock since it just about does what the underdrive does, you don't need a new belt, and I wasn't hot on my accessories running on less juice at idle. Plus, if you might do a stereo one day you'll need the stock size

It only underdrives everything 20%, you can still run a 600watt system on the underdrive pulley with NO problems. But if you want a crazy 1200watt system, dont get the underdrive. I got the underdrive because when I had my JL in my trunk, it KILLED the performance, now its gone, im faster and happier

Plus the ELS isnt that bad

Excelerate sale. I just got my pulley for $190 shipped. Payment instructions are in the first post.

I am going to put it on this saturday. Can't wait. If you made a pulley out of paper mache it would be heavier than this aluminum piece. Amazing!

I still think the TL has a lot going on electrically when it's turning and didn't want to compromise that. I've even read that you can't run the seat heaters on stock car at idle too long cause it's too much of a drain.

What is ELS?

This is my first performance mod and I can't wait.

I am interested in the XLR8 stock lightweight crank pulley but don't have the tools to take off and install to 180 ft/lbs. SO Acura will install this for about $100??? Will they ask questions and what about warranty?

WHO ELSE would install one of these so Acura doesn't know???

Sorry, but I am in debt and can't afford having my warranty voided.

yeah, but unless I win the lottery I'll never be able to afford the supercharger. So I'll be chasing that last big one like the holy grail for a loooonnnng time.
