Problem with MDX Spacers - looking for some advise!

Hey guys,

So per the directions of Stillhere (thank you by the way Al), I installed the spacer easily; thank you also Jasen. However, I'm having a hard time with the hood. I went ahead and popped it a little using 4 washers in the rear and 1 in the front (of rear latches). Now, my problem - I can't tell if there's still a clearance issue. For some reason, I now have less vibration throughout my entire cabin (I have motor mounts). Could it mean that my hood is crushing down on my block and "holding" it in place? I'm assuming there's impending damage if it is, no? I wonder if I could just leave it...?

Question - for all you guys with Fujita cold airs. Did you guys relocate the bracket? I temporarily stretched the black rubber piece (connects pipe to intake manifold) and tightened it. There doesn't seem to be any excess stress on either any problems there?

Thanks guys,
Eric

I don't have this mod but what you could do is put something on your intake manifold and slowly close the hood. In one post it was suggested to use a soda can. How ever much it gets crushed is how much space you have between the motor and the hood. What you also may try looking at is with the hood open, rev the engine to see how much the motor moves from torque. One more check you could try is to drive around the block with your hood popped up at the latch but not open. If you feel more vibration then I would say your hood is holding the motor down. Probably not a good thing.

Is there anything sticking out of the back of your manifold that is touching your strut bar?

nothing's touching the actual strut bar per say, but the three little lines coming off the block (including the vacuum lines for the motor mounts) barely clear. there's enough room when the motor rocks for clearance and nothing hits. is there a particular reason why you ask?

yeah, that's the first thing i thought of first too! but since there's barely any clearance, i figured using a soda can wouldn't do much for me because a soda can, can only be compressed so much, if that makes any sense. you know what i mean guys? there's so LITTLE clearance that the crushed soda can would only do so much...

Use play-doh, put it on top and then turn on the car and brake - rev the engine, that should get the engine to move a little bit.
