Power with A/C on
Power with A/C on
Im sure this is a pretty standard issue, but I just like to know Im not alone, and did a quick search with no results. Anyone experience a real loss of power with the A/C on? Usually around 4 bars of strength.
A/C definitely consumes a little hp from the engine but not that much. i have a 6MT and i don't feel any difference with it on or off. i am sure if i dyno'ed it with and without there will be a difference but i don't think we can actually feel it. it will be more of a placebo effect. if you were guven random pulls on the car not knowing whether the a/c was on or off you probably could not tell when it was on or off.
i noticed in mine when i kick the RPMs up to 5k or so the AC power goes down and the HP comes back on. I noticed this when i was doing 110mph with the AC on and i felt the AC become warmer. I think the car is smart enough to know that if your reving up your engine you want HP not air and it does it for you

yup, the AC shuts off on WOT, when the vtec engages. cool feature, but when it's hot enough outside for me to turn on the AC, i doubt i'll be flooring the car.
VTEC switches at 4700RPM as stated on Honda

With 5AT, I do find slight power loss between 1000-3000RPM.
Over 4000, it's hard to tell difference(by this time car is moving at speed and road vibration makes it hard to determine exact acceleration)
One thing I hate about AC on is when I stop at light, car tend to push forward a bit occasionally (only applies to AT).
My 2000 mustang had big problem with this and I had to floor the break pedal to not rear end someone at red light.
