PCD Home made?
PCD Home made?
I've been looking into the PCD's and have read about the big gains they have been known for. I know about "paying to play" and all that stuff but being the poor college student to be that I am, I look to save money where I can. When installing my exhaust my friend recommended that instead of installing a hi-flow cat I could just take a pipe and bust out all of the metals on the inside to hollow it out. I was recently thinking about the PCD's and was wondering if it would be a good idea to just do that to the PCD's.
Any input on the idea would be great. I love this forum and all the member's knowledge lol
Thanks guys.

This has been covered ad nauseam. Most think it's silly to destroy $800 worth of cats to gain a little power, since part of the gain from high flow cats and full deletes comes from the improved, less restrictive piping coming right out of the heads. You're still going to have that restriction with the stock cats even if you punch out the substrate.
Please search because there was another member doing the same. There is a reason why Richie has a 3rd revised version of his PCD. MIL eliminator locations, thicker diameter tubing (for several reasons), etc etc, etc. Research and development is a huge factor in cost. $375 is a great deal for the hp gains!
Here's a trick.
Google "acurazine + whatever you're looking for"
and as time goes on, you'll learn the titles to important threads.
just google "acurazine + title" and the thread automatically pops up.

but besides the fact... i remember being in your shoes... it is tough to want to mod your car and not have the funds to do it... but take a lesson learned... just save and do it right... and like others have said, you can always look for used ones...

There is also the issue of availability of the RV6 PCD's, or should I say nonavailability. I agree that it's better to wait who-knows-how-long for a quality product than to butcher the stock Pre-cats.

You are right about research and development. I actually just saw richies V3 products in person and I was upset with his exhaust, but it sounded REALLY nice. V2 pre-cats are made better than V1/V2 but V2 came out because V1's were cracking. He also mentioned how the V3's are thicker, but easier to make in his thread.
These companies don't just put time and effort for nothing..
Second that, its ridiculous.
