dude. dont forget ussi, and the guy paul who did some work for slippy's 3.5L conversion S/C...
Even the if 3.7L fits, of course its a better motor... but you'd probably have more success doing a 3.5L conversion, since there are NUMEROUS people on here who have done/aided in that swap, and can at least provide you with some pointers and specific details.. maybe even MAPs for the AEM FI/C
or you can be the first 3.7L swap.. and you'd be a pioneer.... or a martyr![Tomato](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/tomato.gif)
either way. be prepared to spend BIG $$$

a little off topic, but tl2slow what ever happened to your clutch kit? cause you went from wanting to part out and sell your car, to wanting to spend big bucks on a frankenstien j series build =/ all in less than one month ??

well the clutch problem is finally fixed...i wanted to get rid of the car and get a dodge ram srt-10 until I got an insurance quote..its crazy ...so iam just gonna keep the tl and buy a 2 door accord for the wife..but i got a great deal on the mdx motor and i already had the aem ...so i want more power ...i know i have to machine my block but i just want to know what heads to use and anything else i might need before i drop my motor ...

Three Wheelin'
I've always wondered how much heavier a 3.7 would be vs the 3.2
As we all know the car is very nose heavy as it is, and there isn't much you can do to compensate for the massive weight gain (assuming it is much heavier)...

I thought they were the same block with a change to the bore/stroke?

Paul is really helpful with this type of stuff. I think he's used a 3.7 crank in a 3.2 motor for a final displacement of 3.6. The MDX motor will not bolt up to your tranny..many have tried and failed. Your best best is to just use a 3.7 or 3.5 crank (which is a bit shorter) and you'll run into issues with your CM setup just like i did so i had to do a workaround...PM me if u have ?'s.

^^ sorry if this a newb ? but by swapping the pistons and rods are u just making them stronger and more durable? what parts did u have in mind?? this si something u can Diy or u need a mechanic?? this wont do anything to compression would it? i am too in the process of s/c the tl but i would like to read evrey aspect of everything b4 it goes in.
again just trying to learn here but what does the crank do? control how much/fast it turns? I think he's used a 3.7 crank in a 3.2 motor for a final displacement of 3.6. <--- how dos this improve the set up.

You can do pistons and rods yourself however if your asking these questions I suggest having someone with more knowledge help you. Also, any machining will need to be done at a shop. I don't know if it's just crank journals or also the bore that needs machining on this setup. I don't know about how this setup will affet CR but that depends on pistons, headgasket, combustion chamber size.
The crank is what the rods connect to (on the bottom, top is obviously the piston) As the crank turns it causes the rods & pistons to move up and down.
Now for going from 3.2L to 3.6L it's the old adage of there is no replacement for displacement. This is used so you can squeeze more power and torque from the engine. I of course don't have hard facts but I'm willing to bet it's an increase over every inch of the powerband. The biggest thing IMO would be the TQ increase as the 3.2 is lacking some on the low end. Hope this helps it's pretty basic but IHC, opel, ussi or anyone who has done engine work can dive deeper into it as they certainly have more knowledge than me.

^^ i app u giving me ur thoughts and still answering my question.most would just make a smart remark. my cuzin is very handy and hes my dude when it comes to installation. i just have to do the research for what i want. i have to figure this kind of stuff out and just talk parts and labor wit him. im learning with time. my questions will get more educated.thanks.
