NOS on a TL

I am thinking about putting a 50 to 60 shot of NOS on my TL. Does anyone know if a stock TL motor would hang?. If theres a thread can someone link it thanks

Have a 06 5AT base no performance mods yet

the motor is already high strung, with a compression ratio of 11:1.
without any watch dogs in place, I'd be afraid to run nitrous.

Good call, No Mercy. You'll find there is Plenty to do to your TL that will give it good gains and not comprimise your motor. If you really get ambitious, go with a J&R Turbo!

yeah I looked at J&R but over 6k is a lot of coin to drop plus other upgrades. Even The Supercharger is a lot.

I think my first performance upgrade will be the jpipe.

Smart choice. BELIEVE ME, I know about wanting the most power fast even at my age. But after all of the cars I've been through it's always been the same outcome..small steps. Depending on your finances you can keep an eye on the black market and look for PCD's and a Jpipe, RV6 is best bet. And after that a catback always sounds nice, LW pulley, TB spacer and or port n polish, intake thermal gasket, etc.. But read up, lots of great info on this forum. Good Luck

Ummmm, Nos is possible even if on a 11.1 compression. Just have the neccessary parts thats needed for DBW. But with a high compression engine, you will blow on a 100 shot. 75 is as high as I'd use and a 50 will be enough on the engine to take. To push more, you'll need to up your injectors, fuel pump, etc. I've been tuning on a lot of cars and it's not about blowing up the engine, it's about knowing what you're getting into. People blow their engines via misused. NOS is perfectly safe. In my opinion though, if you're into moddifying, get another project to work with. You'll be more satisfying with $10,000 on a project on another car than $10,000 on the TL.

A member who is an Acura tech was running a 50 shot in his TL and found some pretty serious damage to the pistons after a short amount of time. The TL needs a wet setup and the chance of damaging something is too hi. If you are trying make cheap HP from the TL, blowing a engine will be a major let down.

Without an engine management, your afr will go out of wack. Tuning, adjusting fuel, retard timing, etc all helps keeping it safe. You dont need meth to spray.

Some people think they have lots of posts think they know a lot. If they do, they wouldn't come out with disrespect.

and there hasnt been a viable tuning solution for the TL.
J&R recently came out with a new ECU.

running nitrous blind is scary.
I wouldnt do it.
Even member Hi Speed said he wouldnt do it. and he's turbo'd pushing 400hp.

i can be done, but intake manifold isnt designed to distribute nitrous evenly so youll end up with a few bad cylinders .....If this is something you really want correct way to go about it is drilling intake runners fit a nozzle on every cylinder this will guarantee delivery of nitrous to all cylinders and last but not least (not tring to make a sale ) but you will need preferably jandr ecu to control this as it has capabilty to do so ,with ecu it allows you to run dry nozzles as ecu will activate nitrous and fuel depending on shot thats choosen youll need injector upgrade and fuel pump but indeed it can be done safely ,timing and fuel is key....
