New Goodies from XLR8

So, I just recently upgraded my brake rotors (courtesy of XLR8); see here: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-tires-wheels-suspension-97/my-birthday-802000/

Now, I had some fun stuff arrive from XLR8 this week:

1. Stainless Steel Brake Lines and High Performance Fluid

2. P2R Throttle Body Spacer Kit

Brake lines go on tomorrow (Fri the 3rd) at the dealer near my office, and I'll be installing the spacer this Saturday.

I would check with Josh because those look like stock lines, my SS lines had a clear coating over a braided line.

Those are stainless steel lines. We do them with a black coating now.

So is Dot 5 or higher fluid ok to run with full stainless lines?

That is DOT 5.1, which is compatible with DOT 3 and 4. It is not DOT 5, which is silicone based.

How much is the fluid and line combo? Just purchased some Redline ATF fluid and looking to get some brake fluid too, but it might be nice to get the lines while I am at it.

Here's the link to the XLR8 Brake Lines:

http://store.excelerateperformance.c...693&Make=ACURA

Here's the link to the MOTUL Brake Fluid:

http://store.excelerateperformance.c.../i-290511.aspx

It is sold by the half liter so you should buy 2 bottles if you want to flush the system.

Thank you sir! I know I had looked on your site but was confused by the $9 and $109 prices. I was pretty certain I needed to go with two of the $9 bottles, but the descriptions were not clear. I assume now that the $109 is for a case?

Okay, the brake lines are on. I've had the chance to drive the car from the dealership to my office, but all I can say at this point regarding this brake setup (A-Spec pads, Stoptech Rotors, Steel Brake Lines) is................................................ .................................................. .................................................. ...WOW!!!! What a DIFFERENCE!

I'll add some detail when I've had the chance to drive more, but I can say this - the stock brakes used to make me nervous (they "felt" weak for the size of car). Not anymore.

Even though you have upgraded rotors and pads already...let me know if you can tell any big differences. I too have the lines and oil on my list.

funny thing. the reason why i pulled the trigger was...I made a big noob mistake!!!!!

my brake reservoir overfilled and I couldnt get the black rubber seal to go back on.
since my car isnt a daily driver i took the seal off. the seal makes a vacuum in the reservoir, making sure that air is not introduced into the system.

i took my car out last night, and my brake pedal felt funny. When i came to a stop light, I pressed down on the brake, it felt firm but got really soft. it went flat all the way to the floor.

:smacksforehead:

i forgot to put the seal back on..
ordered a new seal, and looked at my brake fluid....kinda dirty. and i remembered this thread.

will update when i get everything installed.

I've had my 07' Tl for little more than a month, but since its was Acura Certified pre owned they replaced pads and what not...i can tell though sometimes I have to press the brakes more than I feel I should and stopping power isnt the best...hopefully the new ss lines and fluid will help.
