My custom Borla/Greddy exhaust
Ok my story started when I decided to upgrade to a Greddy EVO2 Exhaust a few months ago. I love the performance, but the exhaust noise was too much for me. After a few months of torture and words from my gf, I decided that the exhaust had to go. But I wasn't ready to give up the extra performance.
So I had the bright idea of cutting off the greddy mufflers, welding on the stock mufflers (2 in), and an aero 25 resonator on to the greddy piping (2.4 in). It sounded just like stock as far as the drone, but you could hear alittle bit of extra flow out of the exhaust. The performance seemed to balanced out as well (more low end/less top end), plus my neighbors and gf was happy. All was well for a while, but I missed the extra top end power that I was exposed to with the full greddy exhaust.
So my next bright idea; cutting off the stock mufflers, welding mandrel bends (2.5), borla mufflers (2.25 in) with the stock tips on greddy piping. WOW! It had a nice deep exhaust tone; more drone but not nearly as loud as a full greddy or atlp exhaust. Plus I still had a pretty good low end power. But the most important thing; my top end power is back!!!!
I have to give props to the guy that did the welding. Not only did he center the tips just right, he brought the tips out from the aspecs for a better look. I'm very happy with this set up; the perfect balance of performance and sound!
Check out the photos....you can see that the borla mufflers are smaller, but longer than the stock mufflers. The installer painted the mufflers and the bends to give it more of a stock look. Only the trained eye can tell.
