muffler move

I would like to go with the Atlp setup but its going to have to wait due to other commitments. I spoke with the shop that is going to do the work and this guy tells me to eliminate the resonator and mid-muffler and do straight pipe. From what I have read, that is a negative. I will be ordering a dynomax or magnaflow this week. Is the pipe 2.25 or 2.5 ? So many options, so little money, so whats a poor boy to do?

I think the straight pipes striaght form the manifold is not apporved for this car, and losses alot of low end torque. If i were u i would do a stage 3, and just add magmaflow exhuast.

Not from the manifold, the mods are after the cats.

2.25 is the stock pipe size.

Save up for the ATLP. In the mean time, look at the ATLP J-Pipe and Test Pipe. Put your self in position for a Pre-Cat Back exhaust.

"Stage 3" (mid-muffler delete; replace resonator with Magnaflow) is OK for moderate change in sound, but no gains to speak of. Straight pipe all the way through has been tried and sounds bad with no performance gains.

Look up aznb0187's thread on mid-muffler delete. Near the end (last 3 or 4 or 5 pages) is a compilation of vids and sound clips.

I have no idea what TL|GTX is talking about - and probably, neither does he.

If you delete both the resonator and mid-muffler, it will be raspy. Either do one or the other. If you do both, replace it with a shorter, aftermarket resonator.

mufflers are not cats. cats are not mufflers.

I understand you are trying to help out and sound knowledgeable, but if you do know what you are talking about then you are doing the opposite of what you are trying to do. You are misleading people and if there werent people here who know what they are talking about then people might actually listen to you and take your bad advice for good advice.

- We can only *hope* TL|GTX takes this advice. It'd raise the collective AcuraZine IQ by an order of magnitude.
