Mods that don't affect emmisions

So I have an 04 TL that I am going to start some performance mods on, but I would like to be able to pass emmisions without having to take anything back off.

Can someone please enlighten me as to which mods will make it so I won't pass emmisions.

And if anyone wants to chime in as to what some of my first mods should be, that would be cool too.

By the way it would be State of Oregon emmisions.

Thx

Pre-cat deletes & test pipe (removes 3rd cat). I'm pretty sure either of them will fail you.
My first performance mods were suspension, rims & aem intake. If you want some good gains, grab the j-pipe.

Both of which shotcaller said...instead of getting a test pipe, you can get a high flow cat, and receive the same amount of gains.

Removing any of the cat's will fail you, however much of the other stuff is fine. If you are in california and need to meet CARB standards, comptech has attained them for the exhaust, AEM for the intake and a few other manufacturers for random parts.

the place in oregon do they do a visual or dynometer reading? if so then no PCD for you, but if no dyno and you can find a place to not fully inspect under your hood and car then PCD you will pass as it will not set off a CEL....either way good luck with your mods and like stated before J-pipe is a great mod

Technically anything before a cat is illegal and the J-pipe is before the third cat. Will it effect measured emissions, no. A chrome J-pipe would be a bad idea. Otherwise the chances are slim to none that you would get caught.

I've been deciding whether I should buy the J-pipe because I always thought you wouldn't fail emissions, but now based on what you said I dont know if should still buy it along with the test pipe or race pipe. I'm also not sure what you guys mean by failing emissions, can anyone please explain?
