Forgot to mention RPM -
My previous discussion was assuming the same RPM for both engines.
BUT (evil grin).......
If you installed a bigger camshaft (more duration at 0.050"), then the 3.2 engine can make much more power than the 3.5 engine (assuming the 3.5 engine kept the oem camshaft).
There is one substitute to cubic inches. And that is RPM. The 3.2 engine can make the same power using less cylinder pressure than the 3.5 engine if the 3.2 engine is spinned at 10% higher RPM.
This is how the folks in the EVO world get RIDICULOUS power from a little 2.0 Liter engine. They put a ridiculous camshaft (super lopey at idle) in the little 2.0 engine and then boost the crap out of it to 9,000 rpm and make 1000 HP....... from a 2 liter engine.

To safely get into the upper 400's, wouldn't we need to drop the compression ratio (at the very least)?
I'm also very interested in hearing what failed in Bert's engine. Having +100K miles is probably a factor but I am hoping it will show something that can be done at a lower scale than Kikazz, bmeyer or Bert's build.

In addition to what Inaccurate said, a larger cam can lower the octane requirements slightly at the same boost level.

Now about the new challenge: Some time in june we are planning to race a lamborghini lp-640 which will be in my friends possesion for a weekend and as you probably know that is a very fast car. So hopefully we will not embarass ourselves out there and will try to stand our own with lambo. Oh and mr rodney himself will be driving the car because nobody can push acura to its limit and beyond better than him

Hey guys
I'm from the 'all show and no go' part of the forum but I decided to stop by the performance section and see how this is going along and damn, am I impressed.
It's comforting to know that there is a TL out there in this country, that is spanking BMW M's without breaking a sweat
Kudos, and keep up the good work! I drive slowly so my 200 whp TL will do

I think it's safe to say: 1st, 2nd, or 3rd hand, it's nothing any of us was expecting to hear. That sucks...

Glad the driver is ok. It sucks to hear this kind of info. Got to respect the power.

I'm sure kikazz isn't very happy right now but fortunately he's alive and well from the accident , what happen was just unfortunate ihc car put it best we have to respect the power we've unleashed from these tl when boosted as its a total different car when done correctly ,kikazz made the right decision he was badly cutoff by another driver and instead of risking hurting any pedestrians or anything he ran into a pole which saved him as well as other people around so kudos to him because last thing we want to here is that a modified Tl has injured someone , right now I just fell a bit sad for him as he put a lot of effort and time into the build which helped us to push the limits of the Tl and show people these cars are more than capable of been a monster but yet still luxury .....
All I can do now is try to sell most of the parts as the motor and trans are still in good shape ...

Agreed w forcfed. With the money from insurance u can buy a base model for cheap and swap everythin over for the ultimate sleeper. Either way it's shitty news and glad he is well. Sad he only got to enjoy it for a few weeks. GL

Wow that is horrible news. Hes gone this far with the build, he should just get it all fixed up. I guess thats hard to say from our standpoint when we havent seen the car. Id assume if the motor is still in good shape and he hit a pole, that the car would be in decent enough shape to fix?
