Kikazz Acura TL Type S Jandr Turbo Kit Transformation begins in 3 days 550 whp goal
Well in three days I'll be starting one of jandr major turbo build for Mr. kikazz
The motor internals has been addressed to handle such z high horsepower build which is currently been broken in at the moment ..
3.5 Tl TypeS bottom end With wiesco pistons 10:1
Pauter rods
All machined and balanced and assembled
3.5 Tl TypeS head springs retainers & valves
The only thing that was left untouched were the sleeves ,which could have been done but will be ok with a goal of 550 whp ..(I know some people may disagree )..
Jandr tilton twin disc clutch rated to hold over 750 lb tq ..
Jandr turbo kit complete
Jandr standalone ecu
Jandr fuel return kit
The install will commence on Friday 3/18 with the beginning of the clutch install then unto the the fuel setup ,then turbo kit ..
I'll do my best and post daily on this build from the momoent I pick up the car till delivery I'll have videos and pics plentiful ...

Sounds fairly similar to my setup, minus some additional upgrades. Can't wait to see what you guys put down. Most importantly, whether the trans can hold up at even these levels.

Updates way over due , made it up to kikazz to do his install, unfortunately ran into a few issues of concernthat I discovered with kikazz car that needed to be addressed ,currently the kit is installed on the car and setup to go but until kikazz get thede issues addressed ,it would be totally unsafe to tune the car ..
He did however get the car back this morning so he could have his mechanic take a look and verify were all good to go ,as I'd hate to have any major issues while tuning , but with that said I think we are shooting to tune it tomorrow if all goes well ..

I'd be curious to know what the issues were as well. Being in the middle of a motor build myself, it's nice to know what sorts of other issues can arise so that I can be better prepared to take care of them

Good luck and looking forward to the results... PLEASE monitor knock this time.
Are you guys still running the standard GT-61 or did you upsize it. 550 at the wheels is doable but it's starting to push this turbo out of it's efficiency range. I ran this exact turbo and put down just over 500 and it sounded like a jet engine (which was neat) but charge temps were starting to creep up.

Yea we are actually on a 62/62 now let's see how this goes for next weekend as the dyno appointment did not happen today so plans are to fly bac next weekfor the tune everything is ok with the car all problems were addressed and sorted out ,the dyno shop isn't open on saturday but we did setup an appointment but after a few callswe did not get an answer which Im sure what ever happened as to why we couldn't get in contact with him is explainable when I hear from the owner on Monday least to say kikazz was not too happy but after I do my write I'm going to say we definitely got far solve a lot of potential issues ,I did however leave the car with a 5 psi tune and a boost cut ,but I'll honestly say 5 psi is a joke as this car is boosting so early I'm saying like 2-2500 it's into boost already ,but full write up tomorrow when I get in ..

I'll go ahead and comment on the twin disc and say if you're serious about performance this twin disc clutch kit should not be a consideration ,It should be a must the pedal feel is so tolerable even in traffic ,this is a must have

also have you thought about incorporating some design features from Cusco twin disks, such as anti-rattle/centering springs for the center steel, to help get rid of any anooying rattles, but also allow the clutch disks to also wear even, since they would be releasing together instead of one releasing before the the other?
i am trying to find where they mentioned those things

you can only do so much with a single disk, and only go so large while staying within the bellhousing constants (or even the starter ring gear teeth)

As I promised to give a full update on kikazz project, I'm going to say the the trip went rather well besides fact we didn't get to tune the car on Saturday before I leave but I will be back on the weekend to get the project completed......
Usually I don't go out of town to do too much as this eliminate a lot of time and problems which may occur, but kikazz has had quite a few disappointment with clutch installs even with some clutches that should have work without any issues so I decided I'd do this install to along with turbo kit and tuning ..
First problem I encountered when I took the transmission of the the oem clutch disc was installed incorrectly which allowed the clutch disc to constantly run on the input shaft creating a lip which wouldn'tallow the throwout bear to move or even to be replaced I have pics and video to show exactly what I'm referring to....after I did a some careful grinding I did get the throwout bearing off and the twin disc on by now I'm a bit behind as I didnt also want to grind and damage anything which would automatically be my problem, but all went well and the transmission and twin disc did go on ..
Now that was the first problem encountered I know where the the pics bare with me I'm doing a million things at once so let me post this up before I loose all I wrote so far this is not all the story gets better that's not even the punch line ...now I need some popcorn and that beer inaccurate...

finally got some time to post should be catching up on sleep but here i am ...
i know kikazz is watching the thread closely but im not sure if he wont comment as his car isnt totally thru as yet as were tring our best to tune this weekend if all goes well and i get a flight at a reasonable cost...
So after getting thru the findings on the trans i proceeded to take off the oil pan to install drain fitting to my suprise i found this.............
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEGt_e-9GmI
after finding this it didnt come to me right away what that was but i knew i found an issue ,im sure some of us will catch on right awawy what it was but by then im a bit fustrated nothing is going ok ,i was driving the car prior to make sure it ran ok and no issues or point out whatever i found hoping i didnt find anything so now im a bit concerned as this could have easily broken when i was driving the car and then the issue would have been mine last thing i need right now....
i was so in tuned intuned that i didnt have any company for distractions so i could easily focus on what i was doing, so the next day i spoke with with kikazz he said he already saw the vidoe whats going on ,at first he thought it was a piecie of drain bolt as he had just had one drilled out which seemed even worse as to who would drill out something there and not even drop the pan to clean it out, by then kikazz is sold and saying thats maybe where its from we should be good ,but me im always on my guard as the only thing in my mind is i dont want to hit the dyno just to hear kaboom or not know where this metal is from ,and bam it came to me an oil squiter !!UHHH what the hell is an oil squirter doing there??????????
so before i went any further i called his mechanic and mentioned what i think is wrong, he asked if i could check and verify and so said it number 3&6 cylinder oil squiters were broken never recovered one side of the oil squirter which bothers me but ill assume it came out with his oil change wether when i drained it or his previous oil change ...[MAY I ADD KIKAZZ MECHANIC DID NOT INSTALL THE THE CLUTCH OR BUILT THE MOTOR SO IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM WE CAN BLAME HIM IN ANYWAY FOR THIS AS A MATTER A FACT HE WAS MORE HELPFUL AND OPT FOR ME TO USE HIS SHOP WHICH IM GRATEFUL FOR ]...........
SO AFTRER discovering they were broke the mechanic said no problem hes going to contact the engine guy ,so now i opt to speak with MY engine builder and the guys who help us from aljaps ,i wad advised not to tune or do anything until i get to the source of the problem ,which i knew myself but had to verify as i was, instructed to go ahead put the kit on iNstall oil pressure guage and tune it, it will be ok ,but with a 10k build i dont think so, my reputation is on the line also ...so now i called back and the mechanic instructed me then to get it done and get it to his shop hes ordering a new squiter to have the engine builder put it in ,by now my whole timing is off this is not a rush job and by now time is running out i cannot get to continue my job as i also need time without interuptions or mishaps which ive found .....
Now im thinking theres 3 reasons the oil squiter broke by now im more happy to know the motor is still in tact after 2-3 months god knows how long the oil squiter has been broken and we know the oil squirters play a big factor in cooling those pistons and the bottom end ,ive seen theyve got deleted before but the oil system was upgraded to accomodate the change ..
one reason for broken oil squirter is piston hitting clearances isnt correct
two bent rod which ive seen and motor still runs had no idea not on a tl but a k series civic ...
so after great deliberation and assumptions we found out that the possible reason was from a hydro lock motor that possibly bent the stock rod which in return broke the oil squirter, and after diiging in to get some info two squiters were changed but the one that broke wasnt changed during the build ,at this point i agree with the story ....so the oil squirter did get replaced on friday evening ,and sturday was suppose to be a tune day but turns out the dyno does not open on saturday so i called friday and made arrangement to rent the dyno saturday ,turns out on saturday the dyno guy went to the track and the message wasnt passed along to the owner in which he would have given me a cell phone number to reach him again still tring to do my best as all problems encountered and adressed sounds like a win win situation so far .......
in my opinion with a sensitive project as this one id drop the oil pan again and make sure the squiter is still in tact and it was actually broken from the oem rods thats just my thought ,but i must say motor runs fine sounds good but i know sound and looks are decieving we need to know .......
now im tired out of town in brandon fl for work so i must sign off know ill recheck my spelling and continue the post as i get time please follow the thread as our goal will be met and thats a goal of 550whp ,i understand kikazz has spent a lot of money on the build and just wants his car done ,but this isnt my fault in no way shape or form ive gone thru extreme precautions and measures to make sure all my customers are happy and satisfied buy i can only do so much ,and now kikazz isnt too happy now for the delay that his car isnt tuned he spent so much money which in modification like this a budget does not exist ,and all doesnt go as plan always,i think kikazz should be drinking a beer thinking how much money he could have been spending replacing or rebuilding 6 speed trans and motor ,which i stress to him ....
rest assure sucees doesnt arrive without struggle failure or mishap in this case we avoided failure ,struggle to get it al installed, paying attention so theres no mishap all that left is sucess so stay tuned for the badest jandr turbo tl yet to come................
