K&N vs AEM intake ??

Im just wondering if there is any difference being that the AEM is 3.25" in diameter vs the K&N 2.35". The K&N is as big as the throttle body.. can be converted to an SRI, which (at lest in my head) improves throttle response slightly. Would the larger pipe help in initial throttle response vs the K&N or does it make a difference at all one being slightly bigger then the other...

The bigger the better! Go with a dry flow filter and not k&n

As the lenght of the filter and diameter of the pipe gets larger... throttle response gets quicker.

It's not matter of having short or long pipe. SRI or CAI
That's my experience

Edit: As zachlone said, no K&N
It's not only because of the oil. It's because of the filter. Especially if you use SRI with K&N filter, you will notice the heat soak much much faster.
With dry flow or call it the quality of AEM filter, it slightly less heat soak.

Believe me, I tried everything with these intakes on my TL.

None of the above, they're all ripoffs. You can get them on eBay for $75 then upgrade the filter if you'd like. Or build your own it's a fairly simple layout.

I think you're over thinking it as far as throttle response is concerned. From a brand standpoint, and dry vs oiled, AEM > K&N IMO.

Injen outperforms both. Custom outperforms all.

well i already have the K&N intake that i bought back in 04. I have used it for some time the back to stock then intake and now stock for a long time. What i noticed between the stock intake and the K&N is that the engine feels more responsive in stock form. When its in SRI its the best but defeats the purpose of a CAI. I know the K&N is 2.75 in diameter, i just mistyped in my original post but i was just wondering if that half inch more in diameter from an AEM pipe makes any difference in response ??

Im debating if i should install my intake again with the addition of an AEM dryflow filter which would be a little larger then my original K&N that came with the intake. I have HFC, V3Jpipe, CT Exhaust.
