I have only had my TL 3 weeks but I have added tint / tinted tails / wheels / door lock mod etc and a crap load of polishing and layers of sealant .


Today for the heck of it I entered a local car show and got 1st in Best Import Class.

The prize was an AEM Induction System. I looked at thier site and it shows a listing for the 40-05 but not the 06. From what I have read the 06 is the same as the 04-05 in this area.. true?

Also is it worth installing it or is it a trinket? The site shows in the area of 15 HP gains .. is this realistic?

yeah the 3rd gens are all the same...

i dunno about a 15HP gain... but your engine will breath alot better...

 

so they had an aem induction system specifically for a 3rd gen TL as the prize? or you get a voucher for it? im confused. but nice job placing first, from your avatar, it looks clean

I have a 6MT and can say that the AEM CAI is a mod that will benefit your vehicle...

 

Voucher for it that I send to AEM and the send me the one I specify. I just might sell it .

 

Do these CAI make much noise difference at mild throttle openings? Or is it all at aggressive openings .. I'm really not needing the gains but more for cosmetics at shows . I don't want to add a bunch of extra noise to an actually quiet car.

 

It won't sound much different during normal driving -- nor will it feel much (if any) idfferent until you "step on it" -- then it will feel and sond much more agressive.

If you get the BLACK one, it will look almost "stock" to most people who do not know what a 3rd gen TL looks like under the hood . . . The power-to-dollar ratio for this mod is very good-- good bang for the buck -- and in your case, there is no cost except an hour or two to install it.
