Exclamation Jpipe and exhaust combos?

ok so if there is a legit post on this topic then someone just post a link for me. but yes i have searched.

i would like to know what owners think the best jpipe+exhuast setup is. anywhere from cat deletes, jpipes, 3rd delete, muffler deletes, or adding a new catback. basically tell me your setup, how you like performance, how you like the sound, and how much $$ and if you think it was worth the money and labor. all comments are considered.

The RV6 V3 j-pipe seems to be the best j-pipe. It deletes your 3rd cat. As far as CBE's, I like the GReddy Evo II the best, and ATLP's next. The j-pipe gives the most gains of any individual bolt-on.

Is it worth the money? I can't say one way or the other. Another mod you can do is the pre cat deletes. Those give good hp gains as well. But, you'll get the rotten egg smell in your cabin as a result of that.

There are a number of videos on Youtube of our XLR8 exhaust, j-pipe, and high flow cat. We also have pics on the website if you need them. Let us know if you have any questions about any exhaust systems too.

Only thing I would make special note of during your build/searching setup is PreCat Deletes.
If it's a great sound you're after... do not do it. Pretty raspy and you can smell the gas.
If it's performance you seek, then PCD is handsdown best-bang-for-the-buck modification.

I agree 110% with princelybug. RV-6 V3 j-pipe and GReddy EVO2. I'm going to be getting the RV-6 this summer.

"Best" is subjective. Are you talking performance or sound? If you are talking sound then that's for you to decide.

The RV6 V3 seems to be the best performing Jpipe. The XLR8 and ATLP not being too far behind, with XLR8 a little closer.

If you do the PCDs, you WILL have rasp with any aftermarket exhaust system. If you put in an extra resonator, or have a 3rd cat in place, then you will minimize or completely get rid of the rasp. They are the best $$ per HP mod we can do NA, then the Jpipe.

There are many videos of different exhausts with different Jpipes. It's hard because there isn't a video of every setup, basically you listen and if you like you buy, if not you gotta take a risk.

Unless you absolutely LOVE the sound of an aftermarket exhaust, you might as well go custom. It is cheaper and you can get equal or better performance out of them. But, some people like the name brand stuff because it's proven and that's totally fine. Others like to take their chances. But if you go custom you should do some research into what mufflers/resonators you want to use of course. They will all sound different. Good luck.

I have the ATLP base with a atlp jpipe and i love the sound. a bit of slight drone around 2-3k, but a nice tone from the outside. its not ricer or raspy at all. my friend had a base XLR8 and it was DEEP and LOUD. it made my old tsx viper alarm go off every time he started his car. regardless though, it was a nice exhaust, but a bit too loud and droney for my taste. In order of sound, starting with the loudest IMO for cat back:

1) Greddy Evo2
2) XLR8
3) ATLP
4) Tanabe/Comptech

PCDs will give u rasp and the smell, but probably one of the best bold on gains in HP. if u wanna keep the pcds, i would say do jpipe, test/race pipe, and cat back. if ur doing PCDs, then make sure u get a high flow cat to make the smell and rasp slightly better. also, dont do PCDs cuz u might run into emission problems.

also, try to get a race/test pipe or high flow cat with a jpipe and catback if you are not doing the RV6 jpipe, otherwise you are basically "bottlenecking" the car with the uneven diameters of the pipes

We've since updated our system. It's still deep and throaty at WOT but the new PRT technology has significantly reduced the drone.

do u get rasp or gas smell with this setup? i got a atlp v1 jpipe, atlp test pipe, and atlp base exhaust. i dont want to run into emissions problems or drive with that nasty gas smell in my car so i probably wont ever do PCDs, unless they make some kind of high flow pre cat or something.
