Jet Performance Products?

I know this topic has been beaten like a dead horse, but. I just took a ride in an 04 TL with only a comptech exhaust and man I was thinking what the hell, why is this so fast. The owner, a salesman at the Jaguar dealer next to the Acura dealer said that he had a Company named Jet Performance products install their computer package into his ecu and that made a huge difference. I was like, you mean a chip.....he said it was a new circuit board added.

So I called Jet, and talked to a pretty knolegable rep there who mentioned they have done 3 installs on 3rd gen TL's and they had seen good gains. One was on a stock AT TL which gained 15hp/10lbs torque, another stock MT TL with 19hp/18lbs, and the gentleman I spoke of with a comptech exhaust who got 19hp/16lbs on his AT all after having it installed.

He mentioned before I had a chance to say anything about Hondata working on their re-flash and was unsuccessful with an NA flash, but theirs has proven gains. I searched around other forums, and many people spoke highly of Jet's Products so its got me thinking. This isn't one of those ebay chips that you can install yourself, but rather something that they have to open up the ecu to accomplish. This also doesn't have an ebay price tag, priced at $329

Anyone have any experience with this company/products? No need to give me the riot act over posting, I'm just sharing that I felt a REAL boost on this guys car and I can't think of any other reason other than it being a factory monster. So I'm scratching my head not knowing what to believe.

Here's their link if you wanna read up...........

Been to Jet Performance myself. Talked to the installers directly. Very nice/knowleadgeable people. Their warehouse is located in the same complex as Rhys Millen Racing. I wanted to get my ECU reflashed, but I am still not done modding the "performance" side of the car. Once I get the ATLP j-pipe and possibly an exhaust installed, I should most likely be done. Then, I will be at Jet Performance for my reflash. The person I spoke with said that it is not possible to reflash the ECU multiple times after each mod, and to come when you are done, so that he can adjust the proper air/fuel ratio for all the performance mods done to the car. They have done a couple of base 3.2L TL's, and also a 3G Type-S, and the Type-S obviously showed more gains. As with any ECU upgrade, the more performance mods you have on your car, the higher the gains will be as compared to a bone-stock vehicle.

I actually tried to get all of us 3G'ers a discount there for mentioning that we heard about them from our forum, but the manager wasn't willing to do that.

However, I tried!

I think they're legit, and like I said, I'll definitely be there, after my modding is done.

The only thing that bothers me is that the computers well be different throughout the years and they have one chip for all the generations.

From how it reads on their website they actually create a map for you based on what mods you have, so it doesnt matter what number of chips they have, it is the number of maps they have.

but the problem is... that are too many combinations for mod... and after the change... is it still compatible with HDS? our car has too much electronics to diagnose...

till now.. i still prefer... hondata... lol

WERD! we should go there as a group!
Ted told me about this too since it is located in the 714. I'm waiting for the ATLP Jpipe install then I'll give it a shot

Sounds like I need to take a drive on down to Cali once I get my pulleys, headers, high-flow cats installed and the mid muffler removed...

JET Performance Technologies has been around for a while. These guys are similar to Hypertech Performance.........I think these 2 companies make a TON of computer ECU updates & chips for TONS of vehicles.

Many years ago, I used a "Stage 2" JET chip in my 1989 IROC-Z Camaro. It worked very well. No problems, no issues. I felt is was a GREAT product and added HP/TQ.

Keep us all posted!! I live in Vegas.......not too far to drive there, I might go for it!!
I would LOVE to know gains in HP/TQ for the 3.5L TL Type S!!!!!!

You guys do realize you can just send them your ECU and they'll upgrade it that day and overnight it back to you right?

JET has been around for a long time and they have a good reputation. However, I put one of their chips in my Dodge Ram about six years ago and I noticed absolutely no difference in power, but then again it was just a low tech 5.2

Yeah but when they are a 90 minute drive, why be out of my car for 2 days when I can drive up there and have it done.

I would also like to run it on the dyno before and after to see what the gains really are. If I ship my ECU down there and they upgrade it, the difference in weather between my dyno day and new ECU dyno day would skew the numbers.

Besides, its cold as hell in Minnesota and it would be a nice vacation to go to southern California

I know JET has been around forever.

What would I do, mail my ECU in with a list of mods?

I wanna speak to them in person sometime and see what the whole story with all details are. Maybe I can get one of their techs to sign up here and explain their product some. I would love to tell them hey I can get 5 cars to come in can we get a promotional offer or something.

This is great to hear! I've always found it odd that our V6 258hp(at minimum) cars "show little to no gains" from being chipped. I would understand if they were tuned at max performance from factory, which they're obviously not. I guess it's all about supply and demand really...

If the results of a test car are legit I am sure we could get a ton of cars. Think of all the people just waiting for the Hondata.

Looks like there's an area to check from a list what's done to your car. I don't think these will be a custom re-flash; just one with basic parameters, ie. intake/stock intake, exhaust work/stock exhaust, supercharger/NA. I don't know for sure. Someone needs to take the plunge and report back. I might do this after I have the basic upgrades finished, unless Hondata comes up with something.

Yeah, there's definitely another 10-15 hp to be extracted. If you look at a dyno chart you can see the horsepower bar looks it's falling off a cliff at 6200 rpm. It's programmed to retard the timing at that point, big time.

Sorry wasn't able to make it up there, I just got a new job and I've been rushing around trying to get some last minute things done before I start. I'm heading up that way today, but they aren't open on the weekends.

That is no excuse Matt!! Take one for the team!

I like how these reflash numbers make it clear that 6MT is superior to A/T in speed...as if...

My car had the ECU reflashed by Jet Performance. It was done before I bought my car. With AEM the car (AT) dynoed at 226 HP and 200 Tq. The mechanic who did the dyno said that the car ran a little rich.

I can't really say if their refash did anything since I don't have a before or after dyno. The dealership sent the cars ECU to them.

So I guess I'm one of the 3 people who are running with the Jet Performance reflash.

This is getting me excited. If it is the real deal, 260+ whp should be easily attainable for 6MT owners with basic bolt-ons. I am concerned that it may have a profound effect on gas mileage though, and at these prices......
