Thanks! Yea I'm still untuned. Only option thus far is the FIC. The JnR would work I'm sure, but it hasn't been wired for the 7G Accord. I'm confident with a good tune there is at least 15whp/tq to gain. I totally believe that with a larger intake and good tune I could touch 290/245. That would be something else...
#122
now send me the ported intake manifold and some cash and I will send you the FIC.

The intake manifold itself was I believe 360 for everything and the TB I bought for 385 shipped. I think the guy I bought from gets them in frequently so I could ask him for you. However, apparently the ZDX throttle body is basically identical at 79/69 and is like 220.
I can't believe how much this setup gained up top. In VTEC the car breathes so much better. From 6K to redline I gained 10-15whp! The gains from 2700-4000 are awesome too! (I attribute 80% of those gains to the butterflies being still intact compared to last time).
Guys remember I'm also still on the AEM V1, which is 76mm OD, ~70mm ID or so. The TB is 81mm on the intake side so I'm gonna guess there is another 5whp left for a bigger intake. And if you look at my AFR in the first graph, there is definitely room for some impressive gains with a tune!

Well f*ck me runnin! That's incredible. You just cost me more money Sonnick. I was going to send my manifold to King Motorsports this fall for a cut/port/re-weld, but that plan has officially been axed. That probably would've cost ~400-500. What can I get the 3.7 mani/TB for? Around 800?
I got my IM and TB from Tim (OEMAcuraPart)....pick up the discounts link from my sig and shoot him an email for a quote....I think i still have the PM which I send Sonnick which has all the part numbers needed for the swap (or was it a post on this thread, i dont remember)....

either way, i dont know the difference between the Accord engine bay and the TL engine bay....so check out the space you have and definitely do a 4" intake...
I think he is running the AEM FIC....not sure if he tuned it before the dyno....

This dyno is untuned. I sold the FIC to Atlas, but may be picking it back up. Trying to decide I'm probably going to do a 3.5" CAI instead of a 4". Not trying to do any custom fab work. And 3.5" should definitely gain some good power.

^^^ I agree....3.5" should work just as fine....if you plan to do some bottom end work in the future, i would recommend a 4" at that point

Not so sure a 4" intake is a good idea. If the TB on the intake side only measures 71-72mm or whatever, an intake that's significantly larger may very well hinder performance due to turbulence. I don't know the difference between the ID and OD of an AEM V1, but I think a 3.25 OD intake is all you'll need. Anything more than the size of the intake side won't add power. Leave the 4" to the LS guys with 100mm TB's.

It's 81mm (ID) on the intake side The V1 is 3" (76mm) OD. I'd like to have a 3.5" (OD?) CAI so that the piping is at least 81mm to match to the TB.
Btw Anx, sorry for not answering sooner. The TB I got for $385 was 'apparently' slighly used. Looked 100% brand new. The guy cleans/inspects/tests each TB before it's sent out.
I believe the new ZDX throttle body is basically identical. It's 79/69 but I'm not sure how the bolt pattern compares.

Oops, I meant the manifold side. I need to stop referring to the manifold as "intake", as in short for intake manifold. Anything wider than the manifold side isn't going to do anything. But hey, someone prove me wrong with back to back dynos with different sized CAI's!
And thanks Sonnick. I saw on V6net where you talked more about the TB's. I'll search around for the best price I can find new and then compare.

Thanks for sharing the info about the zdx TB After doing some research, it appears the 2010+ mdx also uses that same TB.
The mani on the mdx/zdx is a different part # than the 07/08 TL. It looks the same from the diagram but I assume the opening is larger to accommodate the bigger TB opening. Also, unlike the 09+ TL mani, there is a port for the IAT so it does not need to be relocated.
I plan on ordering the zdx/mdx TB and mani combo and saving some coin.
Congrats on hitting 270 on your J30, that's impressive

the stock 3G TL TB is 69mm and the V1 intake is 76mm...
the new TB is 81mm and hence the intake should be ~90mm (hence a 3.5 will do just fine)....
i went with a 4" as I read up a thread on about this guy gaining a ton of power with the 4" intake on a SHAWD TB and manifold....
either way, i think a 3.5" will fit the opening perfectly....

Yea a 3.5" OD (89mm) would probably end up being ~82-83mm ID. I think that would be perfect.
3G: Good info, especially about the IAT port. Good thing my buddy knew what he was doing! Ha. But I'm pretty sure the MDX/TL TB are the same size at 79/69...the manifold opening is 76mm exactly. Even with my TB maxbored it's only 72mm on the manifold side. I'm not complaining though because I gained a ton of power.

Thanks Anil.
It's almost perfect. If I want to cruise to a stop and throw it in neutral, it sometimes holds steady around 1200-1500RPM until I come to a stop, then it idles normally. It doesn't really bother me, just a little odd. As long as the idle is smooth I could care less. Definitely one of my favorite mods thus far. Although altogether expensive, it was 100% worth it.
I'm not sure of the gains from just the IM/TB since I had the polished runners installed as well, but 10-15whp from 6K up sounds good to me.

I'm not going to dyno, so I won't know for sure, but I don't expect to gain as much as you did, being that my runners are already ported and my stock TB is bored from 64 to 66-67mm on the manifold side. But then again, you had a ported stock manifold, so who knows. And I doubt I'll maxbore it either. I better get something other than a prettier engine bay!
BTW, is the J30 stock TB 64mm like the TL?

I measured my stock TB at 68mm on the intake side and 64mm on the manifold side. My ported stock manifold had a 68mm opening as well.

the 3G TL, is 68mm(intake side) and 64mm(manifold side)....after maxbore I was at 71.xx mm(intake side) and 66.xx mm(manifold side)....
the 4G TL SHAWD, is 80mm (intake side) and 71mm (manifold side)....I did not spend $$$ sending it to maxbore, I just had my guy polish it.....so I am at 81mm(intake side) and 72mm (manifold side)
I hope my memory is serving me right with the numbers....Sonnick correct me if am wrong bro...

Oh nice. They should've upgraded the TB a little on the 3.2s, but saving money > power I guess for Honda. I believe stock the 4G SHAWD is 79/69. But bored out it's 81/72 Seemed worth it to me since the opening of the manifold is 76mm (3in).

Na, they're staying in. I gained 15-20tq and 10-15hp from 2700-4000 RPM. Feels so much better when punching it from a 10mph roll.

My mistake...this was after the TB/mani were installed. However, if you look at my graph around 2700RPM, both the HP/TQ of my before graph seem to even out or even drop until 4K or so. I'm assuming most of the gains in that area are a direct result of keeping the butterflies in. I definitely think the manifold helped as well, as there is a solid 5whp/tq or so throughout the powerband. But I would attribute most of the gains in that area to the butterflies. Obviously the gains up top speak for themselves

Thanks. Since last time I added the 3.7 manifold/TB/runners. We also replaced my broken mounts with OEM and fixed my leaking front downpipe. Only weight reduction is the spare tire.
