J-Pipes again... sorry
J-Pipes again... sorry
I've been doing my homework on jpipes and between the rv6 v3 and the xlr8 v2 it seems like the xlr8 has power gains significantly higher then the rv6.. now i know it was done on a type s vs an 05 auto but that cant be reason for a difference like that in their numbers.
Now with the xlr8 giving (what appear to be) better gains, why does it seem like everyone is going with the RV6? the RV6 v3 seems to be the only ones that are ever talked about and ever come up on the black market.. im baffled.
sorry if this is a dumb question, maybe im overlooking something?

the xlr8 v2 is relatively new, so you won't see it come as much through a search.
both are great jpipes. honestly can't go wrong with either one of them. i have the rv6 v3 jpipe and love it fwiw.

If I remember right the dyno chart showed the RV6 one had better gains lower in the power range, which is where you'll spend most of time in normal driving. Doesn't matter if the other one has a few HP extra at high RPM unless it's track only. Both are a fine choice, my decision was based on price when I got mine.
like sharksbreath said; the XLR8 V2 Just dropped.
it just came out.
while the rv6 V3 has been in production for 2 almost 3 years now.
and for the horsepower differences; you cannot PHYSICALLY feel the difference between the two.
My buddy has the xlr8 v2 and I have the rv6 v3. there is absolutely MINIMAL differences between the two that its kind of a moot point to argue over.
"oh, mine gained +2hp up top"
"oh, mine gained +3 bottom end"
Oh wow! lets go circle jerk now.
Like 350 mentioned above; he chose the pipe that was cheaper.
I suggest doing the same.
or unless you like one vendor over the other.

both j pipes RV6 V3 and XLR8 V2 cost the same $450 on heeltoeauto.com and both delete 3rd cat so you wont have to buy race pipe like you would have to with ATLP, unless you want to keep the 3rd cat
