Install do i keep the mid .muffler N resonator or do i replace it with straigjt pipe?

the v3 jpipe is independent and not related to the mid muffler.
the v3 jpipe does not make your car louder or produce a sound. it acts and sounds STOCK.

NOW, if you want a little sound remove the midmuffler and replace with a straight pipe and add a resonator.

Only thing that changes is the fact that Richies J pipe is longer than the factory pipe, therefore the 3rd cat is removed. Absolutely nothing else is changed. The only other thing you will need to do is Dremel off a few inches of the plastic splash guard thing or else it will rub against the pipe and melt all over it.

as for the sound. no one can tell that I upgraded my jpipe.

No prob justinfob. I absolutely love my V3 J pipe, and now that it finally got colder down here, the exhaust sounds nice n deeper than in much warmer weather. I might he wrong but the Type-S probably will have a deeper exhaust tone. I know mine sounds sexy as fack in the morning.

Quick noob question...I'm still new to this biz so here I go... After installing V3 into my stock Type-S, is it safe to say that I'm rockin a 300 hp vehicle? I know how to add and all but I'm still not educated on hp types and torque and what not. Thanks for any input.

ATLP/XLR8 J-pipe are good and give similar gains. The RV6 V3 J-pipe would yield at least 3 WHP more.

u should of put rv6. best mod ever. ull actually tell the diff.

not entirely true, the curvature of the actual j portion of the j-pipe has a much smoother curve to allow for better exhaust flow among other small features that the untrained eye wouldnt catch. other wise people would just remove their 3rd cat and call it a day. i know im a satisfied customer, i have an automatic wdp type s and now my traction control light goes nuts if floor it at 50mph or below so now i need to look into getting some stickier tires

the rv6 v3 jpipe JUST released in march of 2010....

all the other jpipes are a couple years old. i think the XLR8 Jpipe debut in 2008

i just installed it today and the rasp is an 11 out of 10, LOUD!!! (changed out ATLP V2 w/ res test pipe) i still have my mid muffler and a magnaflow res

so get a diff resonator. or add another.

I would have to disagree with the sound change. It isn't major, but everyone that heard my car before and after said it made a decent difference in sound. Might be that I have it paired with the GReddy EVO2 though...

Im not looking to put a cat back exhaust on or even make it sound like it does, but I do want extra hp/tq with somewhat similar stock sound.

go look at my j-pipe thread where all the companies are posting dynos etc. guys. productive thread with gus setups and opinions. Im doing XLR8 j-pipe because im not risking inspection issues. Taking out mid-pipe on stock sounds nasty rice...

HELL YES, i noticed noticeable gains.
3rd gear at WOT is fucking unbelievable.

If you go to my thread each list power with stock exhaust/cat or 3r cat delete or cat/back exhaust.

Pretty sure this is not true... the j-pipes from vendors are bigger and less restrictive than stock.

If these people read my thread the venders say what's different. all these new j-pipe threads is the reason why i call on the venders. Now i understad what people were saying. People dont search or even visit websites/call these guyd so they arent having to post same threads wow...

Do you mean that removing the third cat makes the car sound ricer? This isn't so at all. There's no discernible sound difference between having the third cat in place or a race pipe.

what are you talking about? who said anything nabout not having any sense bro?

^ this is partially true, aftermarket J-pipes are made in mind to increase exhaust flow and reduce restriction. This is done on all of the pipes with equal length runners, better construction, smoother bends and merges, etc.


^ People do need to research and this is precisely why it's best to leave a "brand" or "vendor" out of the mix and just talk about the actual part and it's affect.
