it may sound slightly louder when you step on it...but no, no real sound change if you upgrade to an aftermarket jpipe.

you are on a site that sells used tl parts. check out the black market section of the forum.

^^^ just what he said. I installed a RV6 V3 jpipe a couple weeks ago on my stock 07 Type S 6mt. Keep in mind the new V3 also eliminates the 3rd cat as well. For the most part exhaust sound is unchanged. I did notice a little more growl in the mid RPM ranges like 2500rpm and up during acceleration but thats about it. During normal driving and cruise you will not notice a difference.

I just took my first test drive with the new j pipe.
Its a little bit deeper, but no louder. I was scared that I would hate the extra noise, but it is in no way baf

The sound difference will be negligible. If you do our V2 j-pipe which eliminates the third cat it will make it a little more aggressive but nothing significant.

Pretty good "bang for the buck". Call it ~10 WHP, but it's hard to be precise.

Best gains are PCD's + J-Pipe + Exhaust. Should be ~20+.

If you are worried about noise, you could do this.... now its quieter than factory. In the cabin at least.

Cheap ass ebay header wrap, and stainless steel zipties from harbor freight. Total cost, $30. And I think I used about 1/2 of the 100ft roll.

what benefit performance wise does the header wrap add?

also can it damage the jpipe over time?

^^

I think he said he did it for noise reduction. I can't think of a performance benefit on the exhaust.

My and not even worth that much.

^^^ I dont think it will damage the pipe....couple pros:

1> keeps the jpipe hotter and hence makes the exhaust pulses move quicker
2> protects the jpipe from stratches
3> reduces drone and quite"s" down the exhaust....i see that as a pro....

cons:
if you scrape...you gotta redo the full thing as light scraping may mess the wrapping and tear it open....

I think it might help the u derhood temps a little bit. Not sure though. I still have a lot if wrap left, and I think i might do the rest of the exhaust.

WEAR GLOVES AND LONG SLEEVES IF YOU DO THIS. I am still itching

That would have been the better way to go. I wrapped it, then hosed it down, then put it on the car wet and started it. Seems to be fine. I don't hear it flapping around yet, ha

I know it's stainless steel but I worry that over time moisture will gather in there and somehow rust lol. Now did you have that j-pipe on originally, then take it off and put the wrap on to measure the difference in sound? Also how does the butt dyno feel gain wise? Thanks.

I ran it unwrapped for about two weeks, then took it off and wrapped it. The only thing I noticed afterwards is "hey its way quieter"

Keep in mind that header wrap causes more heat to build up inside the tubing and in some cases can cause damage to the welds.

this may have been asked before... but what is the difference in the v1,v2, and v3 jpipes. are the gains pretty close to the same as well as the build of the pipe?
