Intake Resonator delete Mod!!

So I finally started modding Penelope
First mod is the Resonator delete and boy does she sound mean as hell!!
Very Audible from the outside..
Inside not as much as I thought, but cai are aren't that loud on the interior..

I'm very happy with this mod and can't wait for the stage one exhaust mod coming very soon possibly by the end if the week.

But will deleting the 3rd cat make any Performance gains??
What about instead of a deleting it putting a hi flow cat in...?

What year tl do you have? Also, if you already deleted your resonator deleting the third muffler may bring some rasp to your ride (did the same thing and wasn't happy). I would put a dynomax or magnaflow resonator and delete the mid muffler, good sound and small but noticable power gains. I deleted my resonator and mid muffler and it sounded raspy as hell so I switched my OEM mufflers to magnaflows and it took away that problem plus made it sound very mean I LOVE IT...If only I knew how to put up sound clips, maybe just pm me your number and ill send you a video?

Patchez, delete the mid muffler and replace the third cat with a test pipe

I have that same setup, along with pre-cat deletes.

Hahaha , its right under the driver side headlight. Take the bumper off to get it out along with all its piping and you can make your icebox intake from the left over parts and get an AFE Pro 5R filter or the dryow drop in and youll be good to go

You simply remove all this and plug #6 into #10.

You start with this...

...and end with this:

BTW: I googled this in like 10 seconds.

You can always send PM's. I usually only pop in to check subscribed threads. The wife & I just had a baby boy so I don't spend much time slummin' on the forums.

Good lord, what an absurd amount of crap for the intake system... How much does sound change inside the car by removing the silencer, and does it make throttle response a little better, and is there danger of water getting inhaled with that being open right there?

This way is a little safer but not much . Their is no potential of hurting anything unless your using your car as a submarine ! This is exactly how the comptech/CT eningerring intakes look . If your worried about it sucking in any kind of water you can drill some small holes in the tube to let water eacape .

Sound wise , its a bit more throatier and you can hear it suck in the air. Id replace the filter with a AFE Pro 5R or the Dry flow filter . Youd have a pretty good intKe setup that way

LoL it's exactly the same as any other factory intake. Extremely long and has a big muffler on it.

I did this "mod" yesterday night. I took off all the tubing and such, leaving just the stock box.

I started and ran into some problems. Watching this video made it super easy.

I just have the stock airbox with the intake hole that is on the bottom of the air box and behind the battery.
Funny thing is that I just purchased my car last Tuesday and I ordered a K&N panel filter for it this past weekend. When I was doing this mod to I found out that my car already has a K&N panel filter installed.....

You need to extend the pipe to get cooler air down low away from the engine bay. if not your just sucking in engine heat air. you would have been better off leaving the original setup.

I did not drive my car to work today, but I will check it out when I get home. As far as sucking in Hot or cooler air.
I was not even going to do this "mod" .... I was actually trying to do the Ultimate cooling mod, but as I started taking the panels off the car I just got carried away.

At the very least you must retain that crappy OEM velocity stack. Sucking through a flat hole or a sharp pipe is much less efficient than the smooth transition of a velocity stack. If you want to get fancy, you can buy a better 3" velocity stack from BPi http://www.bpi-us.com/stacks.php or even a cheap knockoff on ebay for $24 http://www.ebay.com/itm/VMS-UNIVERSA...2def7b&vxp=mtr

when I took off my intake resonator box, I didnt extend the piping because I couldnt find the tubing for it. is one supposed to cut some tubing to make the extension?

Yes you use 6 & 12 . You have to cut the resonator off the pipe that feeds into the actual airbox . Once you do that , you use 12 to attach 6 and bam your done. Your very own icebox intake. Cheap and free . Unless you change out the air filter to a aFe or k&n. then its total is a out $60.

I used the tube between parts 1 and 4, I cut it off of the resonator box itself, and then connected it back to the stock air box with part 11.

This is a video of my Z28 so you can see the snorkel...
