Intake Resonator

Yesterday my cousin comes over with his 03 TL type s and as hes coming down the street i hear his intake.....loud thinking its a CAI. Its not... he took out his intake resonator. I want to do the same on mine but not sure if taking out the resonator will result in any problems. Can some expand my knowledge on this please?

I had this done on my TSX and no problem whatsoever. It's the perfect mod for sound if you don't want to spend money for a CAI. Very slight to no gains though. But if you add a K&N air filter there might be some gain. I got a CAI for the TL so I wasn't able to remove my intake resonator to hear how it sounds.

It's all the plastic bits, especaially the large "resonator box", under the Engine Air Filter box.

On the thread below...I have pics of my DIY CAI. Although, it shows intake w/o silencer.

I removed the plumbing after the resonator. Doing this put the air intake in the path of cold air. I would guarantee you get the same benefits as the CAI you guys pay $200 for.

After my incident with the tire falling off and killing the fender and inner fender, it went to Acura for repair. They saw the plumbing missing and charged the bodyshop for new stuff thinking it fell off when the tire fell off. The way I noticed was the car was so much quieter when under heavy throttle. I actually like it better this way and will never go back to it being loud for the 1-3hp gain.
