I think I'm removing my Innovative mounts...
So ive been having some issues with the car, had a lil convo with IHC and pretty much the only thing that could possibly be causing this vibration and thump sound is the Innovative Mounts... Which Gus 04WDP told me a month back that is has to be my mounts...
Word from IHC
"If you have urethane mounts, that's probably your problem. I believe the common aftermarket urethane mounts use an inferior urethane that stretches and deforms over time and acts like a broken mount. I've used urethane on the GN for years and it's survived extreme heat and 700lbs of torque for 8 years so it's not urethane in general, it's the urethane they use for the TL."
Getting my OEM mounts and calling it a day.
Has any1 had any issues with their INs?

Sorry to hear that man. Which mounts do you have? I heard the 60a (or 65a, not sure) tend to 'dough' after time. I heard upgrading to the 75a is free through Innovative, and that they hold up much better.
I've also read that the XLR8s are built slightly superior and won't dough over time/countless launches. I'm not saying they're perfect, but from what I've HEARD/READ, they seem to be slightly better in the 'doughing' department. They may vibrate more, however, because they are more stable. However, Josh claims they really don't vibrate all too much.
Have you spoken to Innovative?

Also the surface are of our polyurethane bushings is much larger than the Innovative mounts and the polyurethane is more durable.

^^ Surface area and durability is key when talking about supporting mounts. More surface area means more rigidity, which will lead to some vibrations. And durability, well, when there is more surface area, there will be increased durability and overall, a longer life.

If your ever upstate (from now to Jan) and want a live impression of the XLR8 mounts, hit me up.
Had them for maybe 2 years and they are awesome, zero problems, still looking good as new..

There was only one person who broke the tab on one of the engine mounts and the only reason it broke is because the bolt that had the tab was loose so the engine was moving back and forth and that caused the tab to break. So it really wasn't a defect or an issue. And that has never occurred again.
And its not a single isolated incident. My rear mount broke about a month ago in the exact same place as the front mount did.

^Is that the front mount in the pic or the rear?
Is that rust at the failure point?
Do you think it was caused by a welding issue (lack of penetration, overheating?) or a material issue (metal weakness, rust?)?

Some new things for me to see. i know the Innovative Mounts (60 or 65A) were garbage and were being replaced with the 75A, but didnt know about the tab breaking on a XLR8 mount even though its only been one person and both mounts now.
Hmm.. Still need to decide what mounts to order for my accord.
libert69 what kind of power were you making and type of driving do you do?

^+1 well put, 95% of us aren't making over 300 hp. Josh great customer service~
Evan the last time you saw me was when I got the XLR8s installed and they are holding up very well.. and I only have the 62As. Vibrations get a little nuts for me since I somewhat seek comfort as well, but it is a very well made product and the installation was done very well by Al too.

That's what I was told on the phone. Anyways, the tab broke. We replaced it for you free of charge. And as of today you are the only customer that I am aware of to have broken that tab. So it is an isolated in the fact that it is one customer. And to be honest, you also have an extremely high hp turbo TL, which is subjecting the mounts to further abuse. The typical TL owner's mounts will not experience the kind of stress you are putting on the mounts. Therefore, this "issue" is really a non-issue as it hasn't happened to us on every other mount set we've sold.
And send me the bracket that broke and your information via email and I will send you a new one.

Man i dont understand why people are having problems with aftermarket SOLID mounts....
1> these mounts are not for the faint....they will bring in some serious vibrations....YES the mounts will break in and the vibrations will reduce but then again there will be vibrations....so if that is your concern, stay OEM
2> Innovative 60A mounts are an great entry level mounts (i have them....rocking them since 60K miles, no issues)....i dont launch my are at every stop light....i drive in a spirited manner....I have FACED ZERO ISSUE....if your a person who does many many more launches and visits the track like it were in your backyard, dont get the entry level and bish about it, get the 85A or the 90A mounts which will hold that much ooomph ur trying to get out of your engine....
ABP_04TL:
bro if your getting annoyed by the vibrations then i would suggest OEM is your way out....if your getting annoyed by the "doughnut" nature of the 60A mounts then i suggest upgrading to 75A (its free, lifetime warranty remember )

For the size the bushings are on the innovative, I was going to go with 85A to not have to worry about them again for quite a while. 60A lasted only weeks before noticeable deforming. So in retrospect, what would the 75A last, months? No thanks..
Lucky for me, that was at the same time the XLR8 mounts came out, picked those up, and haven't looked back since..
