If you do a search, there's a poor man's DIY CAI, it's all up to you though.
IMHO, I'd at least stay away from a short ram, TLs suffer enough from the heat swamp that's created under the hood.
And if you're looking for a CAI to buy, they come up in the black market occasionally and we have a lot of vendors that stock them

^but why?
cheap short ram intakes will rob you of power.
there's no sense in doing it.
DONT MOD JUST FOR THE SAKE OF MODDING.
have a reason or an end goal to your modding.
if you want to make power, dont do the short ram intake.
if you dont really give a fuck about power, go ahead and slap that stupid waste of money thing on.

^im not sure what the problem is here.
if you want the stupid $190 short intake, buy it foool!!!!!!
we're telling you it doesnt make sense financially.
and you're wanting to do something that cost very little.
so fuck it.
do whatever you want to do fool.
we dont condone short ram intakes. because it doesnt make sense financially, doesnt make sense with power, doesnt make sense at all.
its just some product for you to waste money on.
but hey, its your money.
buy it.
then report back with your findings.

and my answer is still the same.
you're better off replacing the ripped tube than buying a $200 waste of money short ram intake.
Butt, if you still want one, go ahead and buy one. buy the cheapest one you see, because they're all the fucking same.

Justin I need to know when your birthday is and your shipping address, I'm going to find the most expensive SRI I can find and send it to you for your Birthday

Cold air intakes on both my Accords, never sucked up any water. But if all you are looking for is "looks" and sound, you can make your own intake from tubes and filters from Pep Boys for under $100.

Short ram intake might be one of the worst modifications you can do. You might as well go buy some weight plates for $100 and put them throughout the car.
It costs less than $190 and will have a similar effect.

Are all cold air intakes the same?
Ex: you have an AEM one for 150 vs a no name brand for 70.
maybe the piping material is different?
Would it sound the same?
Just curious

A no-name intake will probably not have the R&D behind it that a name-brand intake typically has. The design of the piping and the flow of air may not be as efficient with a cheap one. As Vlad mentioned, you will not feel a huge gain in power from doing just an intake. Our AEM V2 adds 5 to 10 horsepower, but you may not feel a big difference.

So you want to suck up heat instead? The engine bay in a TL is not set up for a short ram to work effectively. As Justin said, you'll LOSE power by doing it. Sound be damned, you'll be handicapping your engine by putting one on.

First off I want to start by saying that I appreciate you starting this thread even though the entire forum wants to scold you for not buying a CAI like every other TL owner, rather than to assist you with your original question - I've had that exact same issue myself plenty of times here. I was in the same situation with the ripped tube, so I bought the Takeda short ram intake. Build quality was great and all but halfway through the install I realized it had a cutout for a mass air flow sensor - which our cars do not utilize. So the only solution was to go waste 65$ on an 09 TL mass air flow sensor simply to be used as a plug for the hole. I could not justify this, so I returned the intake and reluctantly bought a new intake hose and rebuilt my stock system. However, I still am looking for a SRI solution as I too want the sound that comes with a short ram. I was considering the HPS but I've heard it sets off your CEL so I will do some research and follow up with that after I speak to the manufacturer. And to all the guys putting OP down because of a couple lost hp with an SRI... you're taking it far too seriously. It's an Acura TL - unless you're @gerzand or @turbotls, your car is never going to be fast. Enjoy it for what it is.

How about swapping the OEM filter for a K&N, and cutting off the bottom of the air box? It should make the whoosh sound, and suck up the hot air in the engine bay (Hot Air Intake - HAI)... probably cheaper than $190. Maybe you can convert it to a CAI by cutting a hole in the hood.
I do have a CAI on my old S-10, and my favorite thing about it is that all the OEM tubing, air box, etc. is gone... which makes a lot more room to work in there... and to remove, it's 1 bolt and 1 hose clamp. On the TL, it doesn't look like you gain a lot of access by getting rid of the stock intake components though.
