How much light lost with overlays?

I'm considering vinyl overlays for my headlights, fogs, and tail lights. I've searched on here and cannot find any posts regarding the amount of light lost with their use? I don't think it would be 100% transparent?

Looking at buying some sheets of smoke from iJDMtoys.com.

Any advice would be appreciated!!

depends on what color? Its kinda of a waste though since you have one of the best bi-xenon headlights. Smoke is probably 50% + reduction, blue and yellow probably 20% lost

I can understand modding and personalizing you car but reducing the lighting, wouldn't be something I would be interested in doing.

Agree with the all above. Just get them black out from the inside.

That's what I was afraid of. I don't want reduced performance so I'll have to look at alternative options.

Yep, unless you get clear vinyl overlays, you're going to lose some light transmission. Not safe for the headlights/taillights IMO. I got dinged years ago for having my tails too dark. I was rear ended and the other driver said they didn't see my brakes well enough. The cop thought so too...

custom headlights and custom tail lights will look 1000000000000000x better than any vinyl

Ive got the depo smoked tails, not really *custom* but its the same concept. They look so much better than flat black tails. And no police problems.
